Sometimes in the middle of a verse they point the microphone towards the audience an let them sing a line, which only proves that there is no playback (you can't hear the song being played without any of the guys singing).
This is a song I grew up with, and even though I still prefer the original version, I like that they covered this song so now more people know this jam.
Actually they do co-write some of their songs and play some of the instruments. Sure, it does take a big part of the management to get the songs together but do remember that they make pop music, and most pop artists do not write all of their own songs.
