  • Former Houston Texans player Seth Payne asked Texans GM Nick Caserio about his memories of the Patriots trade for Randy Moss after Seth heard Belichick tell his version of the story on the Pat McAfee draft broadcast. They're both great stories, and they're presented here with Randy Moss highlights overlaid.

It’s cool to see Bill be normal, and I dare say… pretty funny.

I truly believe that Nico Collins is going to be a superstar receiver I can see it in him. He can run you down he’s not afraid to lower his shoulders and truck you down. Tank dale is going to be great to he can make plays like Ocho Cinco, im excited for this season. #GoTexans

Dang Seth, good take. I understand you can't compare Moss going to the Patriots with Diggs to Houston, but this is an interesting 'what if' given Casario. No doubt Cesario holds those same convictions, as does Coach. We can clearly see that in every move they make as some are obvious and others not so much during this entire offseason.
They know what they had last year, I think the '25 Texans will be a bit different this year. What do they see in each one and what are they scheming to school the entire NFL this year in this most interesting of situations they find themselves in? Good teams find a way given the talent at hand. Given the talent at hand, we might just get us that comparison. But they will have to earn it as a Team.
No player has stepped to the plate to accept a comparison to Randy Moss, that is a given. Only having Moss on the team could accomplish that. BUT, given Moss and the players that surrounded him and the production they collectively produced, I think the Texans will have to surpass the consistent production to have a prayer at having Moss included in any comparison at all.
The goal for the Texans is not to be like Brady, Moss, and the Patriots, it's to surpass them as a Team and make their OWN history others seek to compare. There is NO comparison, yet . . .

This will seem crazy talk. I think JJ is coming back... when we get to the playoffs. And I propose... here comes the crazy part... a new position: Edgebacker or Linebender... a combo platter of linebacker and edge guy. This to me is an example of how Mike Leach might approach a defense. I could be way off. But having JJ on the field in any capacity... even beyond his traditional position... is a huge plus. What becomes possible with a new position?

If Nico bulked up, he would be Randy Moss.

One more thing Seth while I have you here. I've got a question for you. Too lazy to go look, but I think Coach Ryans was gone to Philadelphia before you got here. So, I won't ask about Coach. But I would LOVE to know what it was like to have Brian Cushing dug in right behind you? Help a fella out here, I gotta know. Maybe I have PTSD, don't know. Just a curious fella I guess.
My career as fullback ended on the play it all began in 4th grade and came to a screeching halt when the hole I was supposed to open didn't, and the halfback put me to sleep helping me push um all back, way back! I woke up to a huddle around me, and was switched to DL to become the pushee and not the pusher. For a punk, I was fast and could scoot under and be in the backfield in no time. But opposing fullbacks were better at pushing back, so I played trumpet.

I doubt it. Although it would’ve been cool to see Moss and Andre Johnson line up together.

I remember when the national media had Randy Moss pegged as a thug, trouble maker.
