Just bought one today. I plan on wearing it skiing this season, the quality is really impressive, I’m really looking forward to winter.
What’s the difference between this jacket and the Electron Pro ?
Yes defiantly makes sense and puts my mind at rest knowing this is my next winter jacket 👍
Ah ah you very excited bout your new purchase
How do you find the sizing?? I recently bought a size large of the Valiance. I'm 6 foot and 180lbs. I find the shoulders a bit snug, but over all i like the jacket a lot. What size are you wearing?
Hi I am about 5'11" and around 78kg, the jacket I am wearing is a medium. I am with you on the shoulders but I often find that with jackets. I think one of the things that has to be considered when buying a thermal jacket is what we want to wear underneath. Some times it is better to go up a size if we are wanting a jacket to wear in really cold weather because of the thermal layers we will wear underneath.
I have been impressed with the Valiance, I have worn it on some pretty cold snowy walks at the beginning of this year.

Good point. I'm in Montreal Canada. We often get -20c or colder in the dead of winter. I think i'll go look at the next size up. I may need to wear something under this coat when it really gets gnarly this winter. I have some family in Wales, been a long time since i've been. Nice place for a hike!
thanks for the review, now would you recommend this as an outer layer say instead of the kinetic alpine?? Im considering to buy either one and having difficulties deciding which one. a little help would be appreciated.
HI, thanks for your enquiry. The Valiance and the Kinetic Alpine are two entirely different jackets, both are robust waterproof jackets that are worn as outer layers. However the Kinetic Alpine is simply a waterproof softshell jacket that has no thermal value at all, if you wore it in really cold weather you would need to wear a thermal layer underneath it.
The Valiance is seriously insulated with 800 FP down so it is really warm, which means that there is no need to wear a thermal layer underneath, unless you are thinking of being somewhere that is really freezing.
Obviously if you buy the Alpine for wearing in cold weather it will be more expensive because you will also need to buy a thermal layer, however it is more versatile for use in varying climates and temperatures than the Valiance.
I hope that helps, if you have any other questions please contact me.

Glad your not a salesman
I bought this jacket 10 days ago but its inner liner is reamed by goose feathers inside the jacket. The inner liner is very weak.

It's perfectly normal for a few feathers to poke through from time to time but it a lot are coming through then I would contact Rab and see what they say. The inner lining is specifically designed to make sure the sharp ends of the feathers don't poke through.
