That concert is not wasted, each one has her solo presentation and lasts about 4 hours, it is a luxury, a pleasure. I hope you see it in its entirety❤❤
You have to understand having Byul really sing on Paint Me was a win for moomoos that time. It was her first having real singing line and not her melodic rap thing. Can still remember moos rejoicing on the comment section 🤧🤧 but I agree they could've given her more singing lines.
A really funny thing about that animal costume performance is we had zero clue what we were getting. It was something to be unlocked at a certain amount of views on the music video but was called 'hot and dangerous performance'
I'd think it's true on MAMAMOO's part on the hot and dangerous, hot when in that stuffy costumes, and dangerous when they walk, to the point that Moonbyul and solar were always looking out for their baby piggies and holding their hands when they were walking. 🤣🤣🤣🥰🥰
For even more extra involving at least one member still in their animal costume, there was one episode of mamamoo tv titled 'third pig's day out' which followed wheein's travels home in her pig outfit after filming was done. The other three just got in their cars and went home while she wanted to spend some more time as a pig, so took the subway, went shopping and more Definitely worth finding the subtitled version if you are gonna watch this
Paint Me may make you think they're talking about a person but they are in fact talking about music, hence the piano throughout the music video. That fact just makes me love them and that song that much more. Listening to the song and reading the lyrics after knowing that makes the song so much more Also, they didn't perform Paint Me during 4 seasons 4 colors promotions so us moos were STARVING for a live (at least this moo was lol)
The costumes are their eastern zodiac. Solar was born on the year of sheep, Byul on the year of monkey, and Wheein and Hwasa are both 1995 so both of them are in pig costumes haha
Yes, you MUST watch the full 4 Seasons F/W concert but fyi it's over 4 hours long. Here's a link to the pro quality video with English subtitles when they talk to the audience (turn on CC). Hopefully it doesn't get taken down before you watch it like the original upload: ruclips.net/video/4eqXRYjyH4o/видео.html The light flashing across the wall during the Starry Night dance practice was a reflection off a ring Wheein was wearing. If I'm not mistaken it was a friendship ring given to all the members by Moonbyul. Since you've been listening to their albums in order try to picture yourself as a moomoo in January, 2018 with Yes I Am as their last title track and out of nowhere they drop Paint Me and announce it as the intro to the 4S4C project. Musically Paint Me hit me so hard I had to ration my exposure to it and it's still my favorite Mamamoo song. Conceptually I was obsessed with the song and MV, hence my mini-essay on it that's just the Cliff Notes version of my thoughts about Paint Me. I also love the rearranged orchestral version they did to open the 4 Seasons F/W concerts but I think the original arrangement is structured to fit the cyclical concept of the project. Paint Me is an unusual ballad in several ways, one of them being that it doesn't really build to a climax like you'd expect in a typical love ballad. There's a slight rise towards the end but that's like a stronger wave in a song that flows like a series of waves. At the end Solar's voice softly slips away like a gentle wave at low tide receding into the sea or a last breath at the end of life but, as I mentioned in my previous comment, that's just a pause before reincarnation starts a new life cycle and another series of endless waves. 😂
Thank you for sharing a link! That helps a ton, and yeah I can’t imagine what it would be like to be a moomoo at the time, I think my heart would explode 🤣
This is their 3rd day concert from their 4s4c, and lasted for 4hr each day. They usually hold their concert in 3 consecutive days and chose a quite small concert hall, because as they said they want to interact as many moomoo as they could while having their concert, and everyone can able to see them and enjoy their presence, its like quality over quantity. Which to me is so amazing, that they always think their fans first before anything else. This is my personally favorite concert so far. Their solo stage were fireeeee!!! Hope you able to see this full concert, its available on youtube and Im always coming back to watch it everytime i feel like to :)
I've gotta go somewhere but I'll give you a couple of additional meanings to Paint Me before I go. Great interpretation of the love story, btw, and I agree that's the first level of the song's meaning. What if the lover they're singing to is Music, their means of self-expression and the thing that brings meaning to their lives and colors their memories with powerful associations? The lyrics are very unusual for a love song and if you look closely you'll see that 4 out of the 5 senses are mentioned - sight (painting), smell (scent), touch (carving/tattoo), and taste (espresso), but not hearing. Imo the other senses are metaphors for the one not mentioned, our means of perceiving music. The pianos are the symbolic elephants in the room - they're the only recognizable solid objects in the whole MV. Note that the piano lid becomes a portal from the initial abstract, undefined set to a full color world in the clouds and then we see the black and white pianos fitted together in a yin-yang symbol. On another level the colors represent the stages of a life from the innocence of childhood (white) to adolescence (yellow) to adulthood (red) to old age (blue) paralleling the seasons and you rightly noted that black is the final stage - death. Imo the final scene in the MV implies reincarnation and a return to another cycle of life. After a colorful life they've moved on to a primal black & white zone and the fundamental forces of yin & yang and the lightning seen in the background represents the spark of creation and reincarnation. I don't think it's a coincidence that the follow-up album to the 4 Season 4 Color project is called reality in BLACK. The colors of 4S4C are four of the colors associated with Taoist 5 element theory and the one left out is black. Hope that gives you some food for thought. :) I'll watch the rest of the reaction later.
Wish I could give this comment more than one heart ❤️, very insightful and interesting interpretations of the MV, I especially like the one that relates to how we perceive music as it feels like something that they would tap into while creating this. 🥰 As always thank you for sharing this with me! 🤘
@@SylverReacts Thanks. I should have mentioned that the music theory isn't mine, tho I was on that track when I found an explanation video that laid it out and then added my own interpretation with the bit about the senses as metaphors. I forget who made that video but I should have said that I agree with their theory rather than implying that I came up with it on my own.
Glad you watched the paint me concert edition and the MV. I love that they made that ballad, into a worthy opening concert song. For Starry night, i don't think people knew it was mamamoo in the costumes :) Its crazy that they would go out and meet people like this and perform their song :)
You should check out Moonbyul's performances on the Second World competition from Fall of 2022. Show meant to showcase the rappers singing voices. Since that show she's had a lot more confidence in her voice. Paint Me in concert is unforgetable. I saw them in Chicago last year. It was amazing. :) The costume performance they kept who they were a secret until they pulled the headgear off at the end. Also, they once came out dressed as teletubbies at a show with a bunch of other k-pop groups.
@@SylverReacts yes you should watch MoonByul's cover for PSY's song "Refuge" that she performed on that show. its one of her best performance, if not, the best IMO
Paint me is probably my favorite Mamamoo b-side. Be it the original or the orchestral Version on The Best. I love Byul’s vocal verse. Byul’s vocals balance and even add its own distinguishing color to Solar, Wheein and Hwasa’s. Starry Night is a beautiful song and MV. The WAW concert had the rearranged/remixed versions of many of the songs from Hello to Where are We Now, the same versions used on “The Best” album. The 4season concerts S/S and F/W are amazing. Each member had a multi song solo stage. I believe there was even the immortal songs medley. A full 4 season concert was 4 hours long. The production for those concerts were off the charts.
@@SylverReacts I have watched the 4seasons concerts on YT via fancams and such. They are legendary, I can only imagine the in person experience. I saw them in Baltimore for MiC On and it was amazing. Before that I saw the WAW online concert that I also have the physical version that they had also released. Just like I physically own Dreamcatcher’s Crossroads online concert. I saw DC once live for Save Us, had the opportunity to see them during Reason: Makes and From Us but those tour dates close to me did not work out for one reason or another. Pretty sure when I saw Mamamoo live they did the orchestra versions of Paint me and Starry Night.
Paint Me is one of my favourite tracks. I almost cried when I heard them sing this live at My Con World Tour 😭 Watching 4S4C concert with you??! Yes please 😂
Awesome songs, paint me is probably my favorite ballad. That orchestra version is great. But if you want to see a live of the original version of paint me, they did it last year on the Hwasa Show episode 8 I believe. It is 1llella, a medley and ends with Paint Me, and is the original, live band as well. That 4 seasons concert is 4 hours long by the way. there are videos of it, totally awesome. So is the 2021 live stream, 3 hours saw that live it was great.
Not a really fun fact, but F/W concert was supposed to happen right after Wind Flower promotions if I'm not mistaken, and Moos were not happy about it. It's because that year, Mamamoo started the 4S/4C with Starry Night, then only 2-3 months after came back with Egotistic (red moon album), then also did the S/S concert after which overlapped a bit with the preparations of their album, Blue;s (Wind Flower). In short, Mamamoo never had any form of rest, so imagine if they did F/W right after Wind Flower. So Moomoos did a boycott and constantly mailed RBW about it, the concerns of the fans abt the girls being overworked. In the end it worked out, and F/W concert was pushed to next year, right after Gogobebe promotions. (But then again, the gaps in between were just months, and they even filmed for Queendom while doing F/W concert tours, then Hip comeback right after Queendom...you can see what I'm pointing at, right?)
Yeah overworking is a terrible thing glad they moved it to a different slot, but it doesn’t seem like much changed, hopefully they are able to get some rest now
@@SylverReacts tbvh, we worry abt them but then again mmm themselves are workaholic lmao like if they're not doing group stuff, you'd still feel their presence bec either a member is doing a collab feature or one is in a show or maybe even a comeback. All at the same time 🤣 to the point where mmm didn't even have a cb and yet they had sth done each month lmao
@@SylverReacts I think Covid helped slow them down. I don't think anything below a global pandemic could have done it. However, it came at a cost. I think we would have seen a world tour in 2001 (or earlier... their album in 2000 was called travel)
Videos of their concerts don't do justice to their vocals. When they were down in my city for the concert, friends who attended had this to say, they sounded spectacular live.
