The Great Grandfather of all the STOL planes.
Designed in the 1930s...almost 100 years ago.
Coldn´t imagine that such an old plane still can keep up with the modern ones.

Fun to watch 🙂 A little different than what I've seen before, where they fly a short distance, land, spin around and return racing directly against each other. Not entirely clear how this one works. I could see they still have to make it across the finish line, or they've scratched, right? What about when they take off? Thanks for sharing. Fun event.
Exactly right. They takeoff and you measure the distance from when the main wheels leave the ground. Then they come around and have to land after the line. When they stop you measure the distance.
@@NationalSTOL So the shortest distance wins, right? Thx for sharing.
@@nancychace8619 yup!!!
What plane was number 9?
Saaas
Can we have some numbers, please?
You can hear them on the radio on most of the landings or takeoffs, but as this was not officially scored, we do not have any distances.
To add, this was not our event, just one we wanted to film to provide content for you.

Amazing to see an oldtimer like Storch keeping up with much more modern STOL planes. applause
