Thanks for this review Lisa - I'm a dad with a disability and my phone's get a serious workout in their screens and batteries so I am looking for an LCD option that can last me cause my previous 3 OLED Samsung's (between 2011 and now) have been ruined by burn in by 18 months in. I'm liking the sound of the L model but will also wait and see how the 5G model goes in reviews whilst looking for big storage, big battery LCD phones in meantime. Appreciate your through approach
All Huawei (and Honor) flagships have an IR blaster on them. A feature I unfortunately had to leave behind when upgrading from the P20 Pro to the One Plus 7 Pro
Yes the Super Bluetooth feature is helpful! Especially when you need to listen at the same time or watching videos or on video conference....there are use cases for working professional adults.
The low cost model was reported on during the local news tonight. The reporter connected the phone to like three Bluetooth speakers at the same time. There are people who will ❤️ that feature. And the headphone jack. Imagine if you’re a youngster and you scraped to buy some wires headphones. The youngster doesn’t have any more money to buy Bluetooth headphones. They will like this phone. And carrier unlocked - people will buy this phone and use it as WiFi only. Not everybody can afford a monthly plan. And there is free WiFi around. One person turns on their WiFi hotspot and everybody jumps on it.
This phone looks like a really good phone, what with the headphone jack, the IR blaster, and the edge display. If it wasn't for that silly notch I might have have been more interested.

I wanted a budget phone that was a step above my redmi note 5 and which didn't have the awful miui skin - and I was led to believe that both the 10l and the pro had ir blasters. I've come to depend on my redmi's ir blaster.The fact that there is no ir blaster on the 10l is a deal breaker for me.
TCL is unfortunately a no go for me as they don't cover all gsm LTE bands. 1 missing from TMO and 3-4 from ATT. They probably aren't the important ones but I won't buy a phone missing bands as i travel all over the country and best coverage is more crucial than the avg person. I also don't need/want a big screen as it would just be a secondary work phone. It's sad that nobody makes smaller phones anymore. I already have an iPhone 11 pro max and iOS can't cover all my needs so I also need an Android phone which is what I normally use... Just taking a break from android
Really disappointed that you made no mention whatsoever of the selfie camera on the 10 Pro. I've watched about 20 videos of this phone today since the embargo lifted and most of the videos seem to indicate that the selfie camera is really bad on the 10 Pro.
In India, better phones than 10 L are like for 150$ and those better than 10 Pro are for 200-250$... I don't hate TCL, their TVs are really good, and some of their Alcatel phones were pretty slick too, but these phones aren't well priced...
At a minimum they will get Android 11 and have 2yrs security updates every 2 months. My guess is this might improve. No Android phones besides pixels really make it very far. We are always a yr behind on major updates compared to pixel phones anyway.

I think that's the point. She's pointing out how higher end phones, which are marketed more, are giving you less for more money. I mean look at any phone after 2018 running a SD845 or higher. No headphone jacks on any of them. Not an exaggeration if you're looking for something that has a modern design and lots of cameras.
IR blaster isn't a necessary thing. I've had a phone with one in the past and only ever used it when my TV remote's battery died. I'm not sure that is reason enough to have one on a phone. I agree with you on the headphone jack however

@@tim3172 the TCL 10 pro has both. For $450. When manufacturers said they dropped the headphone jack because of phone thickness or it limited battery size this and other phones prove that false. Even LG has never dropped it. The ir blaster would be nice but no headphone jack is a deal breaker

Both models are sadly single mono speaker. Huge miss on their part. Even the moto g power has good stereo speakers
