Wes is the most articulate, well-spoken auto rep I've ever heard on RUclips. He actually finishes sentences and actually explains things well. Doesn't waste words. Doesn't fill all his sentences with "um", "and, um", and "you know". Doesn't end sentences with "so" and "so, yeah" and "right?" Every tech guy and auto RUclipsr should emulate that man. You do pretty great yourself Topher!
Tacoma and 65,000$ should NOT be on the same sentence, the whole point of a capable mid-size truck is paying less for a cheap and reliable truck. I feel they shouldn't pass more than 50-55k even for the TRD Pro.
I feel like 55 would have been the sweet spot for the top end Tacoma/4Runner, and 65 for the top end Land Cruiser. I would love to buy any of them, but it’s just not worth the money to me. Especially owning a 5th gen 4Runner currently
@@samasadventures-f1e so are you some kind of cost versus profit Industry analyst that you know so much? Do you think the demographers of lost their mind? @@ytj22 Yah, ok. Because an off-roading truck with bump stops built into the suspension always ends well. Also a transmission with no cooler. Should end well. O wait. It hasn't. The model T shits on it.
If i didnt get my ranger raptor, i think this is the truck i would have got. I looked at every truck, every trim in the segment and this and the raptor intrigued me the most. No matter which truck someone chooses its basically a win in my eyes because they all are so good.
Eventhough Topher knows all of what Wes is explaining, I appreciate that he went along with it and let him explain all of it. I've never owned a truck or SUV so I really appreciate the break down!

Prices are getting so ridiculous, its getting out of control, and at some point we cannot continue to support this. Consumers must refuse to give these scammers our money. And Tophers cant just say "its expensive", no, its robbery. We have to call it what it is, fraud. Quality is deteriorating over time and prices are increasing astronomically. Most of this tech takes away the smarts found in a good driver and just adds more and more complexity and cost…
Love toyota trucks and products cause it’s reliability but in today’s world you can’t go with 53k with just trd offroad with premium on it compare to chevy with the zr2 you can get 53k waay better truck. 💁🏻♂️
Chevy isn't "better", they try to fool you by making it flashy but the quality is trash, it's cheap plastic heaven one you get inside and the quality of components is nowhere near toyota's.
"Hey, that's a nice truck." "Yeah, check out all the cool custom parts." "Sweet. What's it got under the hood?" "iForce Max." "Isn't that a four-cylinder?" "Yeah, but it is just as---." "Whelp, see ya later."
Chris, If high end Wranglers, Gladiators, Broncos, Rangers, Ineos etc. were cheaper, I can assure you Land Cruisers and Tacomas would be cheaper too. 😉 I wish Toyota would put their excellent Full-Time 4WD system in all their 4X4s. Now that the LX will make a front locker an option, it can only be a matter of time before Toyota spreads that feature across the lineup. 🤞
You know it’s bad when Toyota is trying to justify the astronomically high prices of the new Tacoma, and honestly the rest of their vehicle lineup with mediocre quality
Why murica needs all this "overkill" trucks? Like every pickup and SUV has to have an "overland" trim with big tires and long travel suspension. Why you guys just don't build some decent roads in your country?
with as much profit is being made on these things, the only option should be paint color. The rep even said that the xfer case is old school... meaning there is NO NEW tech on these trucks. it's all 20+ yo technology that's been bought and paid for long ago.... 😔
Say what you want, the previous generation is better. Just because they slap a lot of third party components on here, doesn't change the fact that it's a 4 cylinder engine, that runs hotter, has transmission issues, and costs $20k more than the outgoing model. Y'all can keep it, I'll get a 2023.
You 3rd gen guys are hilarious… 8 years of bitching and moaning about issues with those trucks, and now all a sudden it’s the best gen lol. Timing cover leaks, rear diff whine, suspension squeaks and rattles, interior squeaks and rattles, air fuel ratio imbalance codes(OH BOY!!) water dripping on passenger floor liner when running the a/c because the hvac box design is crap, all kinds of other various issues with driveline vibrations, rear coolant crossover pipe leak, rear main seal leaks, rough idle, a/c issues in hot weather over 100 degrees(tsb to fix that) list goes on and on….
and all this technology is explained for people who take their truck offroad. I'm guessing 80-90% of these trucks seldom drive even in grass much less on trails. How about a cheap truck for those who drive to and from work only?

Obviously the Topher can’t say it’s trash or else he’ll lose connection with Toyota.
