Highly recommend sucking diesel through the filter before turning key, my 2012 model definitely isn’t self bleeding. You’ll end up draining your battery and filling injectors and pump full of air
Thanks for uploading this video, it has no doubt saved me some head scratching. That oil filter is well hidden and the fuel filter isn't as straight forward as most cars I've had. Thanks again.
Really clear and informative video. I only came here as I was searching for the fuel filter location on my DS3, but I watched the whole thing in the end and subscribed as it was so well done. Cheers.
Second this - priming took around 30-40 pumps on the black cylinder as per Devinder - you can hear the movement of fuel as you pump and the feeling changes from when you are pumping air through the lines to when you are pumping the fuel into the filter - the pressure gets firmer.
the 1.6 and 1.4 versions of this engine uses the same oil filter, but the seals and cap are different- 1.6 has the black square profile seal, where the 1.4 has a thick green round seal, dont put a black seal on the greens cap, you will get an oily mess.
Great informative video but just one question, on the fuel filter you say there is no primer but isn't that @11.18 in the video one? That does push down on mine.
Hi Ged, my wife's DS3 plastic oil filter housing is threaded, is there anything I can do? IE sawing a channel down each side of the thread? Or is it best just to purchase a new housing? Cheers 😊
Very good clear video especially for the diesel filter, is that long insert really tricky to put back in then?? Oil and filters are no problem but never done the diesel filter before.
Hi, can you help me please? I've snapped the fuel flap completely off the casing (Citroen DS3). How, or is it possible to remove the casing so I can replace/repair it please? Do you have a video of one being removed?
i have a weird issue which is when, on random occasions, I'm speeding up to overtake or just in gen picking up more speed the car will jitter kind of like I'm breaking or going into a low gear feel then make a bubbly sound then re engage and all is fine. Its very inconsistent but can do it up to 3 times but ive found is I come off the gass it happens once and I wait for a sec then re gass and its fine. Could this be the fuel filter clog?
I have a 2013 THP version. Bought it at 10,300 miles and have just reached 31,700. So many bloody problems. I hate this car. If you can get your hands on one, I'd greatly appreciate any how to videos.
Is that (THP) the Petrol "quick" version? I think the engine is sourced from BMW and I believe it has a lot of issues with timing chains going etc - well before they should. I think the PSA group (Citroen) HDi diesels (like this one) seems to be a bit less prone to "issues" and are generally more robust.
2nd gear synchros are weak, has a high turbo lag and the engine it's self is kinda weak without it spooled up, there is a water run on the windshield directly in front of your face due to poor wiper design, not one cup holder and the glove box is a joke.. Much like the back seats. Out of date reply, but here you go ;)

Thanks for the kind words Mark.
The thing you had your thumb on at 11:17 is the plunger for the primer on the fuel filter.
You should always prime the fuel system on diesels.

Thank you ,was going to take it to a garage but with this video i managed to do it myself .

Gerard Burke I watched again and really appreciate your clarity and style. Do you know how similar it is to service the 1.2 petrol model?
Excellent video, thank you for posting.

Great video! Thank you!
how often should the fuel filter be changed? Citroen recommend changing the brake every 2 years - but a lot of people say it's not necessary?
