Hello - quick question regarding going deeper than the high level categories mentioned around 5:30 - is this something that could be implemented by end user or is it something that could be actioned in a later release? I am thinking particularly of Room Data Sheet type applications in healthcare and similar institutional type projects where there are “lots of rooms filled with lots of equipment” I can see a value for a more graphical driven interface when exploring rooms/content and placement when engaging with end users in the design process and indeed for onsite communication with contractors.
Hey David, Yes, this is a great suggestion. Though, we may need to look into the data we are sending from Revit and see if we are sending Room data. If that data exists, then it is pretty easy to create something like that. We'll try to create a tutorial on this.
@@SpeckleSystems thanks for quick response. - to clarify I am talking about drilling down perhaps another onion skin down from what was presented so if I use furniture as a example in healthcare settings (my background) there could be owner supply/contractor fit-install, contractor supply and fit/install and when it comes to medical equipment it gets a bit more complex but essentially 4 or 5 categories or groupings that would have a assignment in their parameters - to do this on the fly currently in Revit need some prep in advance as would Speckle but I get a sense it could be easier and for end users a less technical interface definitely helps in communicating a idea - I’m back home from vacation next week so I’m going to have a experiment to see how far I can go with current version
Man, can you help me? First of all what a good video showing us how to do this work properly. Althought, iˋm struggling with my data. To put in context, I do everything you explained about transforming data through query until getting my 3d visual, my filter and the treemap, but, once I want to filter some categories, my visual does not filter them. I realized that it just filter doors only when starting power BI and selecting it at first but it does it only once, if I select another category, the visual does not do anything and also I canˋt back to filter doors again anymore until I restart Power BI. Also i detected using tooltip that doors is the only category that is recognized as one of them, I mean, if i select a wall, the tooltip does not show anything, the same for windows. The categories Iˋm trying to match are only walls, doors and windows that are being received from a basic 3d model done in Revit. Iˋm new in this, I donˋt know exactly what i am doing wrong but i think it has to be related with my model in Revit. Does the model from revit need to be configurated before sending it? thx in advance.

Thanks for this amazing, step by step approach into powerBI. This is now the game changer input regarding my capstone project. However, I have a doubt regarding the final steps. I'm facing the same issue, unable to select category in the model, it's not working. While all the previous steps have been followed and I have the extracted category info and droped the category inside tooltip. But whenever i select the elements in model, there's no change happening. It displays analytical link as default category to anything i select in the model.
solved by returned to the 2.18.0 release !! (solution from @dhessicarz) github.com/specklesystems/speckle-powerbi-visuals/releases/download/2.18.0/powerbiSpeckleVisual.2.18.0.pbiviz
