Funny enough, before we went in the store, the first dress was literally everything she said she did NOT want… those kind of sleeves, satin, the way the bodice went… but we saw another girl try it on and she looked so pretty in it. Kate tried it on and was surprised how much she loved it. So after that she tried on all the different styles, even if she didn’t like them on the hanger, because she realized sometimes the style you think you love or hate doesn’t end up being that way once you try them on. She also loved the dresses with tulle skirts. They had so many dresses to try on and were so great in there. It was such a fun afternoon.
My mom was in love with #1. We all loved it and thought it was so pretty on her, but my mom took it to a whole new level 🤣. Her top four were 1, 5, 9, and 15.
What a lovely problem to have, looking good in everything! Kate has a beautiful figure, lovely shoulders and is tall. Literally every dress she tried on looked good on her. I'm partial to the first one though because I saw the look on her face when she first tried it on. She also looks wonderful in that colour.
#5 love the color and the flow of the skirt it looks really comfy to wear and practical with a pocket #9 love the back of the dress and fit around the hips #13 again love the strappy back and sparkles x
She found number 5 really comfortable and she absolutely loved the colour and pockets! So smart to make hidden pockets, because you know they are going to be taking pictures all night. You can put a phone in there and can’t tell at all. Brilliant!
She loved dress #9, but it was the most expensive of all the dresses she tried on, at $1k 😮. It was definitely very pretty though… just way out of our budget. 12 was an absolutely beautiful dress, almost reminded me of a wedding dress, but the flowers made her feel like she couldn’t put her arms down and it wasn’t her colour. The darker tones definitely suited her more.
Amazing that a person can look great I. So many different dresses! I would pick #1. I love the dark green and the shoulders. Give me Anne Hathaway vibes
All the darker colors suit her well. 1 was definitely my favorite on her. My sister told me when I was looking from homecoming dress that green suits brunettes very well. Now green is my favorite color to wear.
3 was gorgeous on her, except the slit in the skirt was so high and wide🫣. It was very revealing, especially if she were to be sitting. They did say you could tack it so it wouldn’t be as high though.
I was definitely getting emotional watching my baby try on prom dresses. I’m not sure if I have talked about it on here or not, but it took us 4 years of trying to get pregnant, fertility treatments and miscarriages before we were blessed with Kate (and then another 4 years of the same until we had Julia). There were many times I thought I would never get to be a mom, either through pregnancy or adoption. Sitting there watching Kate experience this important moment in her life meant so much. It meant a lot that my mom was there for it too, because she was the one who would drive me every day to the fertility clinic and keep me company in the waiting room so I didn’t have to be crying alone (it was a couple of hours away from where we lived at the time, so Scott couldn’t come during the week). Now, 18 years later, we are watching my baby getting ready for prom! 🥹❤️ So many emotions… but mostly, I am just so truly thankful for being blessed with Kate. She has grown into such a kind, respectful, intelligent, capable, and beautiful young lady. She makes us so proud each and every day. Every milestone we get to celebrate together is such a gift.
@@BarnBootsandCountryRoots Very emotional and touching. Kate is beautiful but it's her heart that comes through on screen. She just takes care of business, no fuss . I am thrilled for you,2 lovely girls. Momma, enjoy every minute as your sweet mom will tell you,it goes by so soon. Blessings to your family and thank you for sharing your story ,very difficult I am sure.
@@cdmc965 Kate really does have the biggest heart. I wish nobody had to go through fertility issues and pregnancy loss, but I freely talk about it because if what I went through can help someone feel less alone in their own experience, it is worth it. The hardest part when I went through it was that people just didn’t talk about it back then. Talking about it is actually very healing. I think it is more difficult to hold it in, especially pregnancy loss. It was very isolating and difficult to go through alone. Losing Julia’s twin during the pregnancy broke me. It is a grief that I will always carry and am still learning to process, even all these years later. I think it is wonderful that it is a topic that is more widely shared nowadays, so others navigating it can know they are not alone and are supported. ❤️ Thank you for your continued love and support. We truly appreciate it.
I know, we never realized how much she suited green! She said she loves dark green because it is Duke’s colour… you know you are horse girl when you gravitate towards prom dress colours that remind you of your horse! 🤣🤣🤣
I know… some of them, much too grown. I definitely had to laugh at myself feeling so old saying some were too revealing. Luckily, Kate has always gravitated towards a more modest style, so I knew she wouldn’t pick them. The styles currently trending definitely seem to be very “sexy” and revealing. The worst one by far was #7. It was awful. The slit went high but the whole side was lace!
@BarnBootsandCountryRoots yeah, that one wasn't my fav. The 1st one, had it been red, I thought of Julia Robert's in Pretty Woman when she went to opera.
My favourites were 1, 5, 9, 13 and 15. She's literally stunning in all of them but the slightly darker colours definitely complement her hair and skin tone better with the random lighter #13 being the exception. There are no wrong choices in this. You definitely do make pretty children.
Kate YOU looked so amassing in ALL, YOU just have to make the right disition. To wich dress you have for the prome .Take care all and ALL the best. And it was so good to see Kate at the lessons with Gabby. 😄😄😊😊👍👍👍👍
They are all lovely HOWEVER, she took my breath away in #5 and #9, that emerald color is so flattering against her fair skin and as a mom myself (though mine now have children of their own) I understand wanting your daughter covered lol.. both of those styles truly flattered her figure without being overly exposed. I agree with Grandma some of the slits are just way to high. Having had a massive dress malfunction myself at my Jr/Sr prom remind her that she wants to be able to move around and dance without being exposed. She’s a lovely girl and I’m sure she will be stunning in whichever dress she chooses. Best of luck.
I totally agree. Kate absolutely loved #9 and price aside, she likely would have picked that one… but unfortunately it was $1k before taxes, etc. She knew it wasn’t in our budget and although she has her own earnings from work and could pay the balance, she said, “I can either put my money towards a dress that I will wear for a few hours or save it towards a car.” Can you tell we have been teaching her budgeting and saving since she was a toddler? 😂🥰 That said, if it is in someone’s budget, it is an absolutely gorgeous dress and such beautiful quality. She looks absolutely stunning in the one she chose. I’m so excited to share her prom with you guys!
She loos gorgeous in all of them...❤😮so I like 1,5,of the shoulder her dark hair will beautiful in all...good luck ..your mom looks like you jen....so anxious to see the dress she picks in prom vlog in few months ..so kate is senior...and graduting at end ofspring?
The train on 14 was so pretty, and she really loved the green dresses, too. But she didn’t love the back or bunching on the bum of 14. She loved it from the front though.
OMG! Kate you look amazing and gorgeous in all of them. Its difficult to choose just one. Stunning absolutely stunning . Which ever you choose your dad will cry. 💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗🤗
#1 is stunning! The darker colors are best on Kate. And I gotta go with grandma about the slits; they are okay but some of those were um, quite high. A couple of dresses, combined with a high slit and a low ‘top line’, I could just see Scott sighing dramatically, with eyes closed, biting his lip………😂
I totally agree! Actually, Kate totally agreed as well. She is actually pretty modest, and while she wanted a slit, she wanted it to be more hidden and less obvious than some of the ones she tried on. She definitely gravitated to the pretty and elegant dresses, rather than the tight or "sexy" ones. She is definitely a teenage girl's parent's dream. 🥰 She looks stunning in the one she picked. I can't wait to show you guys.
I hate open back dresses on kids. She is a kid. I don’t like the corset either. And the women that have then on their wedding dresses? Yuck. Is this equivalent to US senior prom? So much money. SMH it’s your choice mom. Respect your daughter, don’t give in to a trashy dress. She will be beautiful in whatever she wears.
Yes, this is the equivalent to the US senior prom. In Canada, or at least where we are in Ontario, prom is a huge deal because it is the only major formal dance there is in high school. We don’t have junior prom, homecoming, etc. There is only one prom that happens (and it is in the graduating year right before the end of school) as a way of celebrating the end of high school (usually the end of May or beginning of June depending on the school). It is held at a hotel usually, the kids get dressed up in fancy dresses and suits/ tuxedos, rent limos for a big group of friends to go together, etc.
I liked #1 and #14. Kate looks best in the darker jewel colors.
She looks absolutely beautiful in every single one. No wrong choices!
1 one was gorgeous and Kate is going to love it
i liked all of them except the sleeves on number one the dress it,s self is lovely to many really nice dresses to choose from
Funny enough, before we went in the store, the first dress was literally everything she said she did NOT want… those kind of sleeves, satin, the way the bodice went… but we saw another girl try it on and she looked so pretty in it. I love them all, but I would have to say #1!! You’re a beauty in and out Kate! ❤
My mom was in love with #1. We all loved it and thought it was so pretty on her, but my mom took it to a whole new level 🤣. Her top four were 1, 5, 9, and 15.
You look beautiful!! Loved number 1. I think the darker colors look better on you
I think so too!
What a lovely problem to have, looking good in everything! Kate has a beautiful figure, lovely shoulders and is tall. Literally every dress she tried on looked good on her. I'm partial to the first one though because I saw the look on her face when she first tried it on. She also looks wonderful in that colour.
So true!
To hard to decide. So much of them are beautiful on her. ❤❤
#5 love the color and the flow of the skirt it looks really comfy to wear and practical with a pocket #9 love the back of the dress and fit around the hips #13 again love the strappy back and sparkles x

Dress 1, 9 and 12. All compliment her hair and coloring and figure.

Ooh, I love her. It was definitely the most elegant looking dress she tried on.

3 was absolutely gorgeous

Kate looks fabulous in every dress. She has the body of a model and can wear anything. Mom did you and grandma cry?

She was beautiful in all of them that's a hard choice to pick
1,5,9,16 love green on her

I love this vllog..I did not see her try on a white dress..she would beautiful in that too
I know, but anything white or close to it is crazy expensive because it is bridal.
#5 looks so nice on her.
It was really pretty. It had hidden pockets, too! You couldn’t tell at all that she had her phone in there. This was one of her top 3!
@@BarnBootsandCountryRoots she's tall and thin. And with the side slit on some of her picks.. she looked very grown.

It was fun being back and seeing everyone. ❤️
1 and 14
1st choice #9
2nd choice #12

Yes! She is in her final year of high school and graduating this year! 🥹 It went by way too fast! She turns 18 this year! 🤯
Dress 9
Number 1 Best then 14
The train on 14 was so pretty, and she really loved the green dresses, too. But she didn’t love the back or bunching on the bum of 14. She loved it from the front though.
@@BarnBootsandCountryRoots she will look perfect in whatever she chooses.
#1 and #12
I like 5, 6,9,13. I would pick 5 for me. In dress 6 Kate looked like a fairy. In my opinion Kate looked best in dress 9.
Most of those were her top picks as well.
Kate could make a career of modeling! 1,3,10,13,14
She definitely could. I have been told since she was little to put her into modelling.
1 or 15
She’s a senior?
Yes! I can hardly believe it myself. Grade 12 and turning 18 this year! 😲
OMG! Kate you look amazing and gorgeous in all of them. Its difficult to choose just one. Stunning absolutely stunning . Which ever you choose your dad will cry. 💜💜💜💜🥰🥰🥰🥰🤗🤗🤗🤗
