Wow that sure is a really big long sleek looking and heavy riding unit. I do like the red top with the red interior it really pops with that and the color of the unit. My aunt had one just like this but hers was white with a black vinyl top and black interior in cloth. Hers was a two door like this but a coupe. Brings back memories for me as a kid when she would take me around in it when she ran errands. I was telling her about this the other day when we visited and we had some great memories of a great car like this is. It is fun to see him glow when he drives and talks about as he sure does love that big unit. They just don't make stuff like this anymore, What a fun video Lou and thanks for sharing with us!

Very nice Electra! I love the top as well - looks stunning. My dad was a long-time Buick man (had a 1967 LeSabre which was the closest he had to this one) and you filmed this Electra what would have been his birthday (Jan 3). Thanks for the Car Story and trip down memory lane.

Nice cars! Fast for their time, too. A ‘66 Electra with a nail-head 425 holds the distinction of being the first car to hang at wide-open-throttle on me. The car was only a couple of years old and I did a minor tuneup for a lady. Took it for the test drive, romped on it (on a city street no less), throttle stuck, and off I roared. Brakes (make sure NOT to pump), turn off ignition, and steer it safely to a stop - no big problem. What reminded me of this was seeing the air cleaner on this car clearly marked with “Front”. On the bottom left side of the air cleaner, there is a notch for the throttle linkage. If you put it on wrong, the linkage will bind on the air cleaner in the wide-open position. I had put the thing on wrong !! I was glad no one was with me to witness my shame... That was thankfully the first and last time that happened to me.
Hi Lou, although this car is not perfect, it still shows very well in another great video by you. As one of the commenters mentioned, the engine is a 425. All 1965 and 1966 Buick 425s with a single four barrel carburetor were painted red with horse power ratings of 340. The 425s with the dual quads or two four barrel carburetors were painted green with finned aluminum valve covers. On a green 401 engine, 445 written on the air cleaner housing represents the torque rating with a horse power of 325 with a single four barrel. On a green 425 engine, 465 written on the air cleaner housing will have a horse power rating of 360 with the dual four barrels. Regardless of whether the 425 was equipped with a single or four barrel/dual quad configuration, the torque ratings were the same at 465. Have a great day Lou and remain healthy and wealthy, Brian

As far as I know, the headrests on the bucket seats were a rare feature for 1966. If memory serves me correctly, it wasn’t until 1968 that GM made them standard across all of their full size model lineup.

Another great car Lou!! Buick Electra 225, and a convertible too! Awesome. My Dad's buddy's drove cars like this. Awesome!
Hi Kelly, Happy to read you think this car is "Awesome!" :-) Glad to read this brings back memories of your Dad's Buddy's car, Lou
HI Steve, The red top really goes well on this car, I agree. Happy to read this one bring back memories of your Aunts car. Glad to read you had fun, and glad you're along for the ride, Lou
Hi Jeff, Happy to read your Dad really would rather have a Buick :-) Happy to read you enjoy this car, my pleasure sharing with you, and you're welcome, Lou
@@loucostabile Hey, I just discovered your podcast “The Car Guys Report” - good stuff!
WOW! what a STUNNING Electra 225 Custom Convertible! GORGEOUS Big Car. VERY GOOD choice of color, Better yet, the rag top Red color is INCREDIBLE!! and REGAL! what a GREAT Combo! Another WOW! vehicle, You're right Lou the Car is Striking! This is the first time I've seen an Electra Convertible, BEAUTIFUL! Big engine, powerful for a 425. Chuck is such a Lucky guy for having this PRECIOUS automobile. Thanks again Lou for showcasing another 'WORK of ART' BELLISIMO!
Hi Vern, Happy to receive two "WOW!"s from you :-) You're welcome, Lou
You are correct....That red top really sets it off!!!

That’s a beautiful car when I was a kid in early 1970s my uncle had a 1966 Electra 225 conv .white with white conv top the reds interior I ever saw had dual exhaust with chrome trumpet tip tail pipes I never saw the top down on that car but it was beautiful car 👍✌️

Buick could build a boat as well as anybody. Lou, I watch all your episodes though I don't comment on every one!
Hi Gary, All aboard! Glad you're enjoying the episodes with me, Lou
Oh wow! You have the 425 engine. In 1966 Buick had two engine colors. Green for the 300 and 401. Red for the 340 and 425. Last year for the 401 and 425. The 300 and 340 were not replaced with the 350 until 1968.
Hi When Better Cars Are Built, Thank you for viewing and sharing your knowledge. Please remember to watch the commercials at the beginning of the video (or at least the ones you can), as that's how I get paid so I can keep sharing with you :-) Lou

Hi S King, That is quite a TIP to share. WOW! Lou

Very bold looks, kind of like chiseled brick, love the Electra name, bit rough around the edges, but nonetheless a charmer Lou, standard fare GM interior for the era! Shows well in AZ!

Hi Ener, Happy to read you're enjoying the videos with me :-) You're welcome, Lou
As far as I know, the headrests on the bucket seats were a rare feature for 1966. If memory serves me correctly, it wasn’t until 1968 that GM made them standard across all of their full size model lineup.

I'm a suckered for a drop top. That was one of buicks best.
Hi Doug, Happy to read you enjoy this car :-) Lou
So, so nice! I like the 64’s a little more, but this is incredible. The only Buick I had was a 70 Skylark GS (I had this in 76 when I was “just a used car”). Now my heart lies with a 64 Duce and a quarter or a 65 (or 71) Riv. Believe it or not, I’d take a nail head over a 455
Peace - thanks Lou! (sooo, many hours of your catalogue of superior content to watch!)

@@loucostabile Hey, Lou! If you ever make it to London Ontario for the car show on the Plunkett Estate, we will have to have a beer together - I’ve got 1st round. We’ll have to “cruise” in the RAV4 (lol) OR I can borrow my buddies 58 Studebaker Silver Hawk in blue, just for you! No joke, though - if you come, I’ll “reserve” the Silver Hawk. Buddy and his garage owning brother have a decent collection of about a dozen killer cars. A couple always end up at this show.
Peace
