Cadillac had nothing on a Electra 225, a really great car. Cars like this are just as important as any other car to restore and be seen. The 60's were more that just Mustangs, Impalas, and GTOs and this car demonstrates that. Thanks to the owner and Lou. When I moved to the valley 35 years ago one of the first places I went was to see the fountain in Fountain Hills. Definitely worth the drive.

These are the cars my father and uncles wanted back in the day. A pretty luxurious car that rode like a cloud, not the utilitarian rigid trucks we drive today. I always liked the name "Electra". One of the best to grace a car. Nice car and the silver/red combo is striking. I'm usually a purist, but choosing the red cloth top really made the car pop.

Hi, Lou! This car is the lap of luxury, open air style (and it's not everywhere you can ride open air in January)! This one drives, rides and HONKS with authority! That horn translates "Better give me a wide berth", and you'll have no trouble seeing it at night with those taillights! In fact, I can recall a lot of times over the years when people in sitcoms would mention Buick as a reference to large size! It's literally what they were known for!
BTW, the Electra 225 was named after the sister-in-law of Buick Division head (later GM CEO) Harlow Curtice, and its original length in inches. Thanks to you and Chuck for taking us along for this dream ride with the fountain view!

Nice cars! Fast for their time, too. A ‘66 Electra with a nail-head 425 holds the distinction of being the first car to hang at wide-open-throttle on me.
The car was only a couple of years old and I did a minor tuneup for a lady. Took it for the test drive, romped on it (on a city street no less), throttle stuck, and off I roared. Brakes (make sure NOT to pump), turn off ignition, and steer it safely to a stop - no big problem.
What reminded me of this was seeing the air cleaner on this car clearly marked with “Front”. On the bottom left side of the air cleaner, there is a notch for the throttle linkage. If you put it on wrong, the linkage will bind on the air cleaner in the wide-open position. I had put the thing on wrong !!
I was glad no one was with me to witness my shame...
That was thankfully the first and last time that happened to me.

Hi Lou, although this car is not perfect, it still shows very well in another great video by you. As one of the commenters mentioned, the engine is a 425. All 1965 and 1966 Buick 425s with a single four barrel carburetor were painted red with horse power ratings of 340. The 425s with the dual quads or two four barrel carburetors were painted green with finned aluminum valve covers. On a green 401 engine, 445 written on the air cleaner housing represents the torque rating with a horse power of 325 with a single four barrel. On a green 425 engine, 465 written on the air cleaner housing will have a horse power rating of 360 with the dual four barrels. Regardless of whether the 425 was equipped with a single or four barrel/dual quad configuration, the torque ratings were the same at 465. Have a great day Lou and remain healthy and wealthy, Brian
