    Well done on opting to add some amp hour capacity. That will be nice for you on cloudy overcast days. As long as you have your battery management set properly (I’m sure you do) then you’ll enjoy many years of reliable service from those.
    Your wiring is nice and clean. Because of where your batteries are located in your boat they will be at a more consistent temperature day to night and seasonally then if they were under the hatch out back by your tiller. That will help them to last longer as well.
    Personally I think lithium technology has matured. The biggest failure point with lithium was the built in cell/battery management chips. Those are finally reliable. However the price point hasn’t dropped with the maturity. I think the biggest benefit to waiting a few more years will prove to be the price point of lithium getting closer to that of lead acid. So your decision to wait will probably prove itself to be sound. It certainly can’t hurt to let them perfect the technology even more!
    David from Cruising the Cut just put Lead Carbon in. Supposedly they exhibit all the positives of both lead acid and lithium and very few of the negatives from each. But they are definitely new and that technology does need time to mature and prove itself.
    Nice work!
    Cheers
    Jeremy

      Hi, Good video, am impressed with the choice of Hankook batteries, I have had good results with some of their tyres.....but not sure about 'sealed' batteries, I have not had much luck with them. It's not possible to 'top them up' with distilled water. I used some sealed units batteries (not Hankooks) several years ago and found they did not have the longevity of unsealed units - they were deep cycle ones from a caravan shop. The Hankooks units look well made and I will be interested to learn how you get on with them.
      I have 5 batteries on the boat. 2 starter and 3 cabin, all 110 amp and 6 years old, hooked up to shorepower as needed and charged by a Cetek multi-stage charger.

    Great job and well done. I run a small solar set up at home with 4 x 110 amp leisure SLA batteries and have considered changing them out for Lithium....... the cost is still way too silly for what they are. Yes the DOD is around 80 to 90% on the Lithium whereas the SLA will be no more than 50%, but the cost does not warrant the difference. Hopefully as the technology get better the cost will come down.
    I was interested to see that your batteries are wired up in Parallel just as mine are. I was told by a solar engineer that the main power take off feed points should be at opposite ends of the battery bank, the Positive from battery No1 and the Negative from battery No4, I could not see if that was the case for yours?? Oh, just one tip from the same engineer, always take a photograph on your mobile before dismantling so you have a reference :). Last question, promise!!! what software do you guys use for your videos, they are always so well presented. Take care and thank you for sharing.

    • @welldeckdiaries5610
      @welldeckdiaries5610  4 года назад +2

      The way you described the batteries being wired is a common, but no best way to wire them. The parallel connection on my configuration makes sure that every battery is used evenly and charged evenly and they should give equal lives if charged correctly.. Without diagrams its hard to explain. If you check out my other battery video at about 6mins 30 seconds in are the diagrams that will explain it

      Amen to Big Foot's info, from me a retired truck mechanic. If you're putting in batteries just to sell the boat, then lead acid is cool. Otherwise, don't waste your time and money on them, especially since you need to check the fluid in them several times a year, and they off-gas into the boat, and they leak. Lithium is a proven product without the problems and with extraordinary longevity. Super vlog. You two are the best. 🙂
