From Manus, but there is something special about this song... listening and watching the clip and I am reflecting the isolated islands way of life, the struggles to and fro just to come to provincial centres just to do some simple shopping and wait for a transport to return back home.. maybe it can take 1 week or 2.
Now listening to this song again in 2023.. We have parted in different ways, to other units in the PNGDF and SSD(Police)I can only imagine, we were young soldiers and policemen back then.. Crazy young days during the crisis.. Love to my brothers out there in green & blue, Sore tsl the pain we endured those times na dspla kaen ol music sa cool I'm pen stret 😂😂
I'm from ENB but I had brothers in arms from Samatex we served together during the Bougainville crisis back in the 90s.Ms 03 back then from HMG, Mtt Hgn and Charlie 1(Taurama).My brothers will play this beautiful song in their language. I don't know the lyrics but the melody. Mpla sa salim fax stret. Cool string band music 👍👮🇵🇬
I am married to Milne Bay. Came past this song title on Facebook and decided to have a listen to it on RUclips and wow!!! 🥺💯🔥 gave me goosebumps.. too good these oldies .. thank you for sharing..
Another Manus here. Listening to this song makes me wanna cry... we cross the sea from our humble village to town and back just to do shopping. Such life is real for Islander! ❤
I had a girlfriend from Samarai schooling at John Wesley high school, way back in the 1970. Name Judith Elekana. I like the melodious sound and song. I am from New Ireland. ❤
Listen to this song brings me the memory back to 1994 and I traveled by sea to Dobu Island in Milne bay escaping the volcanic eruption in ENB Province. Dobu is my mom's sweet island home. I usually follow my uncles and they sing while we paddle home on canoes. But now after 30 plus years am away from living in the WHP Mount Hagen. I still miss my mom's home. Thanks for the wonderful music.
Back growing up in the early 90's I use to hear this song being played by my dad on his 8 battery cassette player radio. As a kid I love listening to it when played. I can recall the fond memories of my childhood. Nowadays I can't hear such raw music anymore. Golden oldies are still best. PNG 🇵🇬 string bands. 🎵❤💪👍💯
My primary school teachers were from Samarai and Trobs in the 1980s at Hoyabia Community School, Tari, Hela province. They played these songs in their homes we would listened to them. I feel for them now.
Very meaningful lyrics, about thinking back home and reflecting what my mum is doing back home and feeling sad at the same time, why did i leave home and came this far. My thoughts are only of home and how homesick i am

A fan of Milnebay local string band. The unic sound of string giter melody and the harmonious sounds from the local dialac coming straight from the heart, makes Milnebay string band so uniquely different. Am still a fan to this day. Go.. Aiyo ni.
The very reason the songs hits differently for us 28s living away from home is the intro lyrics.. life takes us away from home for various readons, but home still tugs at the corners of our hearts .. kapole
Even though I'm from E.HP, I love their songs. It reminds me of my childhood days back at Osi Street, Murry Barracks. Where Ranken and Igara used to play their songs.
Listening to this music from Western province reminds me of the late 80s as this music brings the memories of those days as we were born with this style of music compared to today's music. 🎶 😅😅
Thank you focks out there with this more touching band, reminding old days and tone of carrying to tears land. Gods' gift is in what you can be good at it in one thing. Very keeping music, thanks alot.
The song is sung in suau I guess, but Redmond's me of the 438 Islands in milnebay.i 've been to most of the islands and it's more beautiful than other cost and islands in PNG.oro meni
The song is about a guy who was raised by a single mother. He left his village to travel afar, and while he was away, his mother passed away. When he returned, he found his mother's house empty. Standing on the road leading to the house, he reminisced about who would call him now that he is an orphan. 😢
