My brother was deployed to Vietnam in December 1970, at the age of 20. In a letter home, he wrote, “Freedom is for those who have fought for it…a taste of something the protected will never know.” He was wounded when he was there 36 days. Five days past that, he was transferred to the hospital ship, USS Sanctuary, where he succumbed to his injuries ten days later. He died for what? Did people learn? My brother was deployed to Vietnam in December 1970, at the age of 20. In a letter home, he wrote, “Freedom is for those who have fought for it…a taste of something the protected will never know.” He was wounded when he was there 36 days. Five days past that, he was transferred to the hospital ship, USS Sanctuary, where he succumbed to his injuries ten days later. He died for what? Did people learn?
