Chris Gibbons Everything we have is donated from hospitals in the area so we reuse everything we have until they fall apart too. Our OR beds are very old and our dummys fall apart easily or don’t move well. All of our instruments were donated too and arent in good condition, but they get the job done. True about working with different people, you get A' holes in all walks of life and it's the same in the surgical environment. It is, what it is. Like the Rock said, when working as student. You need to "shut your mouth, and know your damb role". Biting your lip, when condersended to or put in you 'student' place is one of the hardest skill to develop. It is, what it is...

She's seen techs that can't even 'drape a mayo'. This refers to covering a mayo stand with a sterile drape. The mayo stand is the adjustable, moveable stand the Surg Tech places instruments on for use at the surgical field. They are easily accessible to the tech to pass to the surgeon. The 'drape' is a sterile cover placed on the stand itself, creating a sterile place to lay out the instruments. Knowing how to drape your mayo is an essential step in setting up your OR. I'm halfway through my 18 month Surg Tech certification course, so I'm still learning, but I do know how to drape a mayo! 😜

Hey , I’m looking to get into ST, but I’m not sure if I should go for a degree or a certification in surgical tech. What do you think is the best option? I know the entire system is being reformed in 2021 so I need to decide quick ! Thanks :)
I would go degree to future proof yourself if you have the time.
Dixon xGrimes what's being reformed in 2021?????
Amanda Hurt The accreditation body seems to be moving towards making it mandatory to have a Degree (Associates in Applied Science) instead of a Diploma.
I had to stop college for a year due to my dads surgery, I plan on restarting this coming semester, my question is should I pursue the certification or should I pursue the long term associates degree in surgical assisting

What about someone in the 50's
I started surgical tech school at 54 years of age. I rocked it and got hired right away. But, you have to take really good care of yourself.
What did she say at 4:40?
psalmsurfer1 “can’t drape a mayo”
is the girl on the right going to be at school when i go?
Lmao! I said the same thing when i started the video. Shes absolutely gorgeous

Can one be a surgical tech with a 5150?
Can you have a drug related felony and become a surge tech?
No, you wont get accepted if you have any type of felony on record.
No type of record if you want to go into the medical field
Hi - I discovered your videos and find them very informative and pretty much confirmed my next career move. I am local here in the Valley and would love to talk to you about schooling options. There's CSN and NV Career Institute. I already have My BS in Health Sciences and just looking into a certification program and would like to see if you have reccomendations? Thank you!
