However, that last bit is irrelevent. If you have a device that holds 2 batteries in serial (like a flashlight) and put one of them backwards so that the (+) ends are facing each other, it will not work. Like 2 magnets with the (+) ends facing each other, the electrons are repulsed and cannot cross. So, even if the (-) ends are otherwise connected, it still will not work. The foil serves zero purpose.
