Buy metal pipe and trim it down to fit into the candle holes you drilled. I love these ideas! Thank you! I have two drought killed trees I want to make into something lovely so I do not feel the loss so bad.
Wow great!! Which polish did u use on wood slice? Recently i got my wood log cut into several pieces..i used sand paper to make it smooth but still its look is not shiny
We lost a couple of thousand trees to high winds over the last few winters in Scotland at my family home...I'm building a cabin and everything else has to be from the wood thats blown down or from recycled/up cycled materials. I have a connection to the shed with the sawmill generator but that's only for emergencies. I am installing a solar/wind hybrid system and a wood burning stove/cooker. I will be using the cabin as a home/workshop as I make jewellery so I will have a butane tank for that but I am also getting a double ring stove top...again, for emergencies. ..I saw the roof of the sawmill shed flying down the road on Boxing Day so I need lots of backup. Of course I can probably survive with just the woodstove as I will be rainwater harvesting too. Thanks for the upload. ..oh btw you're supposed to wear protective clothing that winds up in the chainsaw blade too just in case you hit your legs etc. Look after yourself x
Foxiepaws ACAnderson You seem to be doing a lot, and in a very sensible way. Wishing you the best with your endeavors. If possible, share some pics and videos on what you do. Honestly, I have learnt by watching videos!. Thanks for you comment. I was a bit scared to handle the chain saw first. The owner told me to cut at 45 degree angle to avoid the chain getting stuck and causing damage. Next time I'll surely follow your suggestion while handling a chainsaw. Nice talking to you!.
1st Lesson: Let the saw do the work. Put the housing against the log you are cutting. From there, you "walk" the bar down the log. 2nd Lesson: You are working with wet wood. The wood need to dry out before you can work on it. Take it down to around 5-7% moisture content. Not 100%.
No I wasn't , But I did not know much about working with at that time. I felt it was easy actually. But since , I made only small stuff, It didn't seem to have cracks

I'm new to your Channel so this is your first video i watch. But certainly not the last. Thanks for sharing this ideas. They were very interesting to watch. You used freshly cut wood. How is it holding up after 3.5 years? No cracks?
hey, Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. The things I made doesn't have cracks. But the logs I had preserved, one of them has cracks and others are okay. I would say the wood is not very strong, as it was not a mature tree. But it is good enough to make small fun stuff like these
Thank you so much. I made some lamps out this wood actually. In fact, I make most things out of this wood as it's something I can afford. Please have a glance at my channel and you will spot some interesting stuff. Thanks and hope to see you around
Hmmm,...I never did think too much about it. I nail the bark to the wood at some places and use glue to keep it in place. Then I can clean it with a brush
VIDEO EPPO my apologies Josh ( need to get my ears checked) ha,ha:-) thanks buddy for the woodworking videos, I too do it as a hobby & love working with wood. Sorry once again for the mixup in your name:-)
Is there an easy way to keep logs like this from rotting over the course of a few years? I cut wood for my fireplace and over a few years logs tend to get very brittle and the bark chips off. How can I stop this?
I have no clue how that is done, but the best person to ask would be Steve Ramsey, Mathias wandel. These guys are professional wood workers and know it lot better
Jackson Catlett I would suggest a couple coats of boiled linseed oil to penetrate the logs on the exposed grain,as for the bark, spray acrylic. Made my wife a small live edge project and used this method, been over two years, still looks like the day I finished it. Let oil set for 2_3 days before spraying acrylic over entire surface. Good luck.
Have you ever tried a proper electric husqvarna? It can cut through on any massive logs like hot knife in butter... Why would you use a petrol one when you have access to a power socket? Hitachi is not my favourite though...
Hahah...India has various religions, numerous language, lots of dialects...there is really sharp contrast from north to south... As for me, I am a Christian born in the southern state of Tamilnadu and my mother tongue is Tamil
This was 4 years ago!...I didn't even know how to handle the tools. The forstner drill bit slipped and fell on my foot causing me to bleed a lot. I have learnt a thing or two since then. I have made better videos but somehow this video is the one which is seen most. Anyways, thanks for watching.
This is glorious, I have been researching "wood project plans" for a while now, and I think this has helped. You ever tried - Yanathew Wood Waggler - (just google it ) ? Ive heard some amazing things about it and my cousin got cool results with it.
I only took tree log, a branch, that fell in a hurricane. The tree is still alive and doing well. Believe me, I planted saplings all along the street which have now grown to big trees in a last three years. I tried planting saplings on a hill nearby, but the cows graze it. Waiting for monsoon to give a next try!. I love your concern and respect it too!

For this project I used boiled mustard oil i think. But Now I use linseed oil. But for shiny finish you need to use clear varnish
I am impressed with his robotic Indian accent speech.

good efforts and good work bro best of luck

It didn’t look like this wood was dry when you started. Curious to know how those projects held up?
surprisingly they held up well. Mom's still using the treasure chest to keep her sewing supplies!
Awesome video! Could I use green wood or I have to dry it?
its better to use dried wood

Very very cool :) I would never have enough patience to chisel out that whole log 👍👍
Neither did I, but I was hell bent on making it plus I was on afternoon shift for work that day. So kind of went through the trouble
Nice! How did you do this... "handle" for grinder? It must be useful and I mus get it 😁 or did You buy it?
Jacob sSs first I had made one from angle Iron. ( Lots of RUclips vids available). Then I found a cheap one on ebay. So I bought it.
Thanks ;)

With the planter if you light a fire in the center and slowly chisel it out the carbon also is a good fertilizer for the plants naturally
That's an AWESOME idea!
U know theres wood pits ,u drilled whit metal one😊 but nice.. and mayby put some chaing oil to the chaingsaw..
I know, Sometimes when metal bits become dull, I use them for wood...But that was a long time ago. Now I have learnt a lot!!!
Something is better than nothing😁
Positive+!!!!
Preventing from bugs what we have to do?
A coat of varnish will do the job. The wood i am using is Neem. It's naturally bug resistant. ( In most case)
I hope next time i make also that some idea's...
I am sure you can! Greetings from India!
I did something very similar, my plans from stodoys helped me with this.
Fantastic option I think. Thx Bowerman
How do You clean your log without damaging the bark?
Hmmm,...I never did think too much about it. I nail the bark to the wood at some places and use glue to keep it in place. Then I can clean it with a brush
what kind of oil do you use
It's generic vegetable oil. I boil it a couple of times and use it.
Eazy e if he were Indian.
How long does a branch have to cure before it can be used for a project? I don't want bugs or worms in my house
Its takes quite a bit of time. May be 3 to 6 months. The wood I used coms from neem tree. Its quite resistant to bugs.
Very good work !! Like # 891
