    Hi friends!
    In today's video I want to share with you my practice session for today, in which I worked on brush stroke techniques for watercolor.
    In this exercise you try to achieve a variety of brush strokes, and study what your brush is capable of (line weight range, dry strokes, wet washes and so on).
    I choose one brush every time, and focus on that one only. In this session I used my Silver Black Velvet, number 12.
    I hope you enjoy this watercolor exercise, and I'll see you in another video tomorrow! (:
    Also - don't forget to drop any questions you may have, for my upcoming Q&A video.
    Cheers!
    - Liron

    I do this alot. When I don't feel like painting but need to do something creative, I doodle with my paints and brushes experimenting with the brush. Trying to find out especially with regards to foliage different and easier ways to obtain the required results I want. As they say Liron, practice makes perfect :)

    love watching you show these exercises as I think they are most helpful for us beginners. Because you are making mistakes that we all make your tutorials are not condescending and its great to work along with you. Keep up the good work Liron I think your show is probably the best for beginners.

    Really good exercise - I can't do vertical lines to save my life, they wobble beyond belief. I've tried artist's bridging rules but these tend to create lines that are too perfect and look out of place against the more organic hand drawn strokes. I always resort to rotating my work now. I did pick up a tip for those fine detail lines - resting the tip of my little finger on the page - it gives you a lot of control.

      @LironYan  7 лет назад +1

      Yes, every aspiring watercolorist's problem =P
      You have an almost perfect painting.
      You negative painted FOUR washes around that silly spar. And then you go in for that vertical line and it's wobbly as hell XD
      Yes -resting the tip of the pinky helps too in extreme cases. I sometimes rest my entire palm haha.

    Hello Liron, I am am absolute beginner in watercolor, but have always loved this medium! Recently I discovered several of your videos and have been enjoying them! However, maybe you could make a beginners set of 5, 10, or ever how many videos just to help people like me feel comfortable, starting out? Would you be interested? It would be so very helpful! Thank you!

    Love this! And what a great way to use up those paints you don't use often! Thanks for the heads up on that. Maybe you will change how you feel about other colors, as well. While using an unloved color, you might think, "hey, this color would be great for so-and-so."

    • @LironYan

      Liron Yanconsky This just occurred to me - you could also just use this exercise to clean your pallette. I just hate wasting all that paint!

    I really appreciate your classes and personality. QUESTION: both my watercolor and acrylic paints often have liquid in the tube when I place on the palette. This has been with cheaper as well as professional Winson Newton paints. Is the paint bad?? Am I suppose to lift out the liquid or mix it in? Please help! Thank you.

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  2 года назад

      Thank you & Great question 😁
      Doesn't necessarily mean the paint is bad! Sometimes the components separate inside the tube if left unused for a while.
      A great trick I learned from someone commenting on an old video of mine - was using a toothpick! Put it in the tube and mix! And it should reincorporate the components after a short mix. Give it a try and let me know if it worked for you, it did for me before (:

    I like to do this when I need to clean out my colours or palette. This way you don`t waste colours at all.
    Or if I try out a new colour.

      Me too! Haha (:
      It's one great way of using that excess paint.

    Question: what do you think of your Moleskine artbook compared with watercolour paper? Will you make/put together your own artbook with the paper you like in the future?

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  7 лет назад

      I think it's much easier to produce even washes on good paper, not to mention the (sometimes) terrible buckling on sketchbooks (:
      Making my own artbook / sketchbook sounds amazing, though I don't know if I ever will (it's one of those things you say you "gotta do" and then forget XD).
      (I'm answering here because the Q&A vid is already scheduled, but your other questions will be in it)

    Cool video, as always! Sometimes, after "learning" it's hard to think that you don't already know something, so doing practice can be so hard! But we can't improve by not doing anything.
    No, for my question: When you have an art block, what do you do to get over it?

    • @LironYan
      @LironYan  7 лет назад +1

      Thank you - really good question, I think I have an answer with a twist (;
      Totally agree about learning. Being an "eternal" student pays off.

    I am interested in the difference between the same colors of different brands, but also if a brand have a color which is unique to that certain brand. I am also interested in knowing more about different kinds of brushes and the techniques they are suited for.

    Maybe you could provide us with a short bio... Tell us about a little about yourself on a level you feel comfortable with. It can be anything about how you got started doing art, your education, where you are from and if you have any pets.....lol. what other interests or passions you have if any and what some of your personal goals are. Am I being too intrusive? I leave it up to you. Yeah... How DID you get so rad...lol?!?
