Les Petites Culottes de la Révolution (1989) - Movie Review

- Hello everyone, for my 10,000 subscribers, I wanted to clear the controversial and hyper-sexualized reputation of my channel that my recent Marquis de Sade videos have created. At its core, this is a very serious channel about very serious topics, and it is time that my videos start reflecting that. And what can be more uncontroversial and serious than the review of a historical movie? So today, I’m reviewing a 1989 movie about the French revolution made by Pierre B. Rheinard.
Enjoy and thank you for the 10,000 (17,000) subscribers. Merde!
EMBARRASSING MISTAKE ALERT: At 6:24, I clearly meant to write 'does', not 'those'. I blame Christopher Nolan.

Some people are telling me that this is actually a pornographic movie, but I'm pretty sure it's just a French movie.
Thank you for the 10,000 (17,000) everyone and merde!!!
EMBARRASSING MISTAKE ALERT: At 6:24, I clearly meant to write 'does', not 'those'. I blame Christopher Nolan.
ha! as someone who watches a lot of french films, this is just slightly more explicit than regular french films... wink wink ;)
When will you be out of hiatus?
@@Lilas.Duveteux soon! Just been super busy with work :)

I find blaming Christopher Nolan is a suitable solution to many problems.
finally a good and realist historical movie!
Totoofwarful I know, it’s just so hard to find 😩😩
“The following 15 minutes spent with my family was perhaps the most awkward and unpleasant moment in my life” 🤣🤣🤣
Seems like a family friendly movie. Perfect for a class of 7 year olds
I have watched an Italian film called Malena. Some scenes were X-rated, but I was surprised that the film was family friendly in Italy.
As a French, i can tell, this is very accurate.
As a French, I agree
Jean-Paul Marat in real life: Was said to have an ugly face, looked deformed, was notable for his physical irregularities, had a terrible skin condition, and was in his 50's when Charlotte Corday killed him.
Jean-Paul Marat in movie: A gorgeous young man in his 20's with flawless skin, an amazing body, and a handsome face.
I’ll take movie Marat anytime of the day!!
Interesting idea to use a movie like that to explain the French Revolution. I hope the video won't be banned in the future.
Always finding new ways to keep things interesting! I hope so too. Thanks for watching and merde!
I don't see anything wrong with this historical film. As a historian in training I should say it was quite an accurate portrayal of the time. Mierda
Damn it, should have consulted you before making any conclusions... Thanks for watching Alexis and merde!
Well, good for you, WTF? Hahaha.. WOW
@@ThisisBarris 😆🤪, you are awesome.
I was so excited to see Barris uploading again.
Then this happened.
Merde!
This is the frenchest history video I've ever seen
Oh gosh, I had a funny time with the skewers based on real historical knowledge. The way you delivered it was such joy as well. Your series on (mostly) the Incorruptible was what brought me to this video in your channel, meaning I am tempted to be like some historians and blame him for everything or almost so (although I shall not)
Thank you!!! Means a lot to me. Merde!
Noble effort for a historical film but it keeps loosing focus in plot and its production hampers it a bit.
Definitely - I feel like the director felt the need to put in pointless sex to make the movie more "mature/adult" even though it doesn't contribute much to the plotline. Nevertheless, as you said, a noble effort. Merde!

You need to review:
Shaving Ryan's Privates:story of American paratroopers attacking German rear
Riding Miss Daisy:examination of race relations in the deep south
Schindler's Fist:a tender tale of an opportunist turned saint during WW2
Fine Creamed Tomatoes:irreverent magnum opus of a tomboy and a wallflower
Starshit Poopers:didn't see it(cause I'm not German),but allegedly it's good
Okay this is absolutely brilliant and I absolutely love you now, but it's a hard pass for me on Starshit Poopers. Merde!

Upvoted for the Dunkirk shade.
Dunkirk deserves some shade. Thanks for the upvote and merde!
I don’t think I’ve ever experienced such a level of intelligence, tongue-in-cheek, history & carnal knowledge in one place before - let alone a “movie review.” Kudos to you & much appreciation from America. Thanks for this...🤣🤣

Brilliant commentary on a soon-to-be cult classic movie... I learned a lot from the movie, and even more from you... Vive l'Barris!
It better become a cult classic! I'm glad you learned something despite the content of this video - merde!
Hahaha this was fun to watch. To be honest though this movie seems to be less obscene then your educational history video on the Marquis de Sade.
It's hard to be more obscene than Sade tbh! I'm glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching and merde!
I'm awed by the costume budget for this.
Lowkey they did a good job at reproducing the mood of the revolution - watching people act super posh while having sex was absolutely hilarious. Happy to see you here man and merde!
I love it, I watch it every time with my Mom every Thanksgiving.
Very wholesome!!
Brilliant. Easily the best video on the French Revolution I have ever seen.

Great review. You should Also review Caligula a very historical movie
Ah yes, so I heard! A great Roman epic, on part with shows like Rome. Great recommendation Mike. Merde!
That actor didn't look like Marat at all. Historically inaccurate porn pisses me off.
it wasn't a mistake- they in fact failed to reference trousers in the title because no one keeps them on for long
That is an excellent point, although it seems to reinforce my belief that this so-called historical movie used any pretense possible to shove sex in your face! Thanks for watching man and merde!

A series of videos a about French writers would be excellent. French literature has given some much hoy, only comparable to the joys of Britsh and American literature.
It would be a good idea, but I don't know how successful it would be tbh, although I did plan on talking about French authors in a historical context - such as Victor Hugo and the 1932 rebellion (June rebellion). Thanks for watching George and merde!

I recognized "Ca Ira" from its use in the music for the trailer to Otomo Katsuhiro's animated adaptation of the manga, "Akira."
Never heard of Akira so I'll have to check it out. Thanks for watching and merde!
How is this the first video I watched by this French history RUclipsr? Also how the heck does porn, when combined with what seems to be serious educational commentary, becomes super hilarious in the process?
Hahaha thank you! Means a lot to me. I hope you enjoy my other videos as well. Merde!
OK, I changed my mind. Ignore my previous comment. This is your greatest video, not only because it's hailarious, but because it references at 9:40 (as I understand) the Statute of Kalisz of 1264, ratified in 1334 for the whole reunited Polish realm by Casimir the Great. It is maybe too generous for Poland, as it's hard to talk about full citizen rights in the 13th and 14th centuries, but it did give unpresedented in Europe rights and legal protection to Jewish people.
Oh god, if this is remembered as my greatest video, I'm going to feeling miserable haha but yes, it was a reference to that and while it wasn't full emancipation like the French revolutionary government, considering the treatment of Jewish people in Europe, it was a large step forward. Thanks for watching Artur and merde!
@@ThisisBarris Well, it's just from my subjective perspective. You might have noticed that I'm a bit of a sucker for any references to Polish history, especially the positive ones. You can easily surpass this video by making, for example, one about the election and short reign of Henri III in the Commonwealth (it could be also potentially quite funny), or Maria (Marie) Walewska and her son Alexandre Colonna-Walewski, or Marie Leszczysńka and her father Stanisław Leszczyński.
And finally, a certain random boy from Lorraine, who came to Poland at the young age of sixteen. He had a pretty interesting life in turbulent times, taught French, met or was in other ways connected to many important and interesting people, and above all else had a very famous and talented son, but no one talks about him.
Can you guess who I'm talking about?
Tbh Polish history is something I don't know much about but I love to learn more about it!
And you're talking about Chopin's father, right?
@@ThisisBarris Yep, Nicolas Chopin! There is a lot of interesting intersections between French and Polish history and culture.
Speaking both of those intersections and movies about the Revolution, I just thought that it would be interesting to see a review of _Danton_ (1983) directed by Andrzej Wajda. Sadly, what inspired me to this idea is the news of the death of Wojciech Pszoniak, who played Robespierre in that movie.
I love your content, keep up the great work
Thank you! I'll try my best to keep it up. Merde!
Haha ne t'inquiètes surtout pas, we are the good ones
Yay, !!! You said " the fucking something" ...made my day.
Hey,I would like a video on the history of the French Colonization of Louisiania (if no material is good enough for a video,do one on new france as a whole please)
That's definitely on the works! Thanks for the suggestion and merde!
As a Quebequa I would love you to do one on New France as in Canada, Quebec/Moreal- Montreal! Alot of french history there and things to tell.Did you know the Americans during the war of 1812 declared war on us, thinking that the ones that burnt down the white house were the french from Canada . They invaded us and burnt down The settlement of York- modern day Toronto and moved in to burn down Quebec. It was not the french rather it was the British that did the deed! We Canadians had no casualties while the Americans did,and fought them off and sent them back in defeat in 2-3 days! This only united us who were just small settlements and villages ,outposts into comming together to be united and the country we became.
Can't wait to see this on the arm chair historian website. After all this is purely historical.
I'll be very disappointed if Griff shuns this video for his website... merde!
