Headcanon: Sherlock and Moriarty aren't really big on saying the words "I Love You." So they both came up with their own creative way to say it to eachother without actually saying it or from anyone knowing.
Moriarty's is writing or carving or tracing "IOU" on any surface: ex. carving it in a apple, writing it in blood on the building across for Sherlock windows, tracing it on Sherlock's palm or table. to a outsider it looks like "I Owe You" but Moriarty and Sherlock know it means "I Love You."
and Sherlock's way is Morse Code. tapping "I Love You" on the table, on his own fist, on his gun when he's pointing it at Moriarty's face.
