Another problem. There is a popular product selling for $ 1000 to $2000 and is rapidly growing. There are only a couple of companies in Australia Importing from China not producing. How can you get into the business building in Australia without buying parts from China? There is a producer in Europe but won't sell to Australia/Asia. All I can see is a brick wall or emigrate.

My sister and I created a company and the accountant put her as a public officer alone. I asked to be added as one ? Is that possible and is it possible to add a person even after creating the company? Thanks

Can't believe what I'm hearing. To state asset protection as the first key benefit to starting a company is abysmal.
It encourages and condones many irresponsible director behaviours such as phoenixing, knowing full well they won't be held personally accountable. The laws need changing to allow directors to be charged and be personally and financially accountable for the failure of a company.

This is how free-market capitalism works, as the asset protection is intrinsically tied to the business risk, and without asset protection, the risk would be too high for many people, and it would stifle the market. No one wants to try and earn $1mil of profit by putting $10mil+, or all of your assets, at risk of legal litigation. I would suggest some general accounting academic books if you want to learn the more detailed reasons about why asset protection is needed.
