I absolutely adore the SD Tao and Anri. Your other versions are cute, but these two just look like there's something wrong with them, with a face like an aquarium goldfish, and eyes that say nothing is going on in there. Perfect.

I appreciate the suffering you went through to cover this game. I didn't know EOB3 was bad, but I've only ever played the first one. EOB2 is on the list to play thanks to you, but EOB3… yeah, I'll just skip it.
Definitely underwhelming. I defeated the last boss with two Time Stop scrolls that I'd been holding on to. I was too low level to memorize them as spells, so just used the scrolls. He died out of time, haha, not sure what that means, but it sounds awesome!
Great review. I know it's probably not your favorite thing in the world to do, but reviewing an irredeemably bad game is just so entertaining. You can use beautiful descriptors, like "wretched" and "feculant" in proper context. You can convey disappointment and despair in ways that are layered with complexity. It's so much better than reviewing a good game. How many ways can you say "Shining Force 2 is good. You should play it," compared to the ways you explain the absolute joylessness you experienced with this game?
Even more than that, only in an actually bad game can you notice the few things that are actually excellent. For example, Monark is bad, but the menus are excellent and boss music is unique (never heard a Japanese woman rap before🤔). Lost Dimension has an incredible "death game" mechanic. Even Clive Barker's Jericho has excellent character design and powers, as well as an interesting history of development. Somehow, in all the brown in the collander, you will eventually find the diamond earring your girlfriend swallowed (don't ask).
If you truly want to see someone suffer through an unapologetically awful video game experience, I recommend Civvie 11's playthrough of William Shatner's TekWar: The Game. No matter how low I feel, I know out there, somewhere, in New England, someone has suffered worse than I have. Misery truly loves company.

Hey Richard, that funny I just beat the 3 beholder games in the last year too, even if I agree with all your complaint, I did have lot of fun to play those and share it on twitch with my viewer! And yeah that final boss, wy too easy! Thanks for the video!
I just played the first two of these knowing nothing about them, booted the third one all excited for more and was like eww haha. Had the same issues as you not being able to play wasd and stuff too, and horrible sounds compared to the awesome ones of the first 2. I think I may still try and play though it but I bought dudgeon hack and after trying that feel i may be drawn away from eotb 3. At least it has polearms and attack all, that would have been great in the first two.
Wow, this sounds so bad. I have played the first two, never finished them, but not this one. I think I am going to try and stay away. I am sure I will forget and buy it on steam like an idiot. Thanks for suffering for us haha
