First, you have to understand what a scale is and then you can start to understand chords and chord progressions. It's kinda hard to explain here so I recommend you watch a video by Andrew Huang called "learn music theory in half an hour" it's really helpful

Some plugins are just expensive to make, but I know the prices can be frustrating we've all been there. I used Xpand here which you can get for $10 on black Friday. I also used purity which is $50. Also there are some good free plugins like spitfire labs, decent sampler, keyzone classic and vital
