Can we appreciate Omaeda's strength here? Usually when we see Soifon's Bankai, the recoil is so powerful she needs to tie herself to a building or get absolutely launched by it.
Omaeda just tanked that recoil without missing a single beat

Even so, he's said himself that he uses his physical appearance to fool his enemies. He portrays himself as big and clumsy, but he's still an assassin.
Expert in stealth and shunpo. That's why Soi Fon trusts him as much as she does.
The bankai is also more compact, faster and the explosion more directed. I think it was both his increased power and Soifon's better control.
I just love how simple her bankai is. No floofy magic BS, it's a f*ck-mothering rocket launcher with a depleted-enemy life bar round.
Shoot if someone dodges that bankai it’s a wrap.

@@GojoTheHonoredOne9 Judging from that explosion, I don't think it'll matter whether you dodge it or not. For most people, the option is basically either being reduced to ash from a direct hit or...being reduced to ash from a near hit.
I just love the fact that Omaeda holds her on his hands and she is not roasting him for being disgusting. That little fact actually tells a lot about character development for both of them.
I mean, it was an important moment there wouldn't really be time for that but ok 😂

Soifon's nuke going off in this episode is easily one of the best explosions in all of anime.

Soifon’s Bankai is so badass. Love how they animated the mushroom cloud. Makes it feel more like a tactical nuke. Glad to see Soifon getting a victory in this arc. Hopefully this won’t be the last time we see her fighting.

She interacts with Aizen a bit later. But she gets shot down by one of the elite sternritter and js out of the war after that.

As much as I dislike Omaeda, he is actually loyal and cares for his captain. He’d lay his life on the line to protect her and everyone who’d dear to him.

Love that we've finally gotten to see Omaeda's bankai! Turns his own captain in to a living rocket launcher. Truly a ruthless character.
That is why Soifon is my best girl in Bleach. She and Rukia. The firepower of Jakuho Raikoben is so impressive. Omaeda really does make for an awesome backstop or a human tripod.
Loved this scene, tho I was kinda hoping the anime would make all the hollowfied bankai look unique from their original, instead of just Toshiro
same, i hate that Toshiro got special treatment. They/Kubo could’ve added a little something different to Soi Fon’s bankai as well. Sajin & Byakuya i understand why maybe there’s didn’t have any changes bc they only hollowified the bankai’s for a little while just to rid them from the Sternritters but Soi Fon & Toshiro could’ve been the ones to get newly designed bankais instead of just Toshiro. He be getting MC treatment sometimes it’s crazy

I figure the difference is that Toshiro’s opponent was actually using his bankai at the moment while for Soi Fon hers was still being stored by her opponent.
Though who knows if that mattered.
Maybe the difference is what their bankai are. His is basically a living thing of ice that envelopes him while her's is just a big missle.
The design for the rocket launcher was different tho. I didn't notice that when i first saw this scene, i had to compare it with the original

just love how he holds his ground with soi fong this time round, watching a prior episode where she uses this bankai and after shooting it just launches her in the other direction through a building... omeida wasnt even able to hold on either in that ep, this time with a hollofied bankai they both are like "say hello to my little friend" and dont even get knockback from this... love there hollow bankais kinda wish we got more then the 2

i was really hoping with the anime we could have gotten more hollowfied bankai like hitsugayas where it actually changes in appearance
I just wish her bankai looked a little more hollowfied. Like imagine the launcher reached all the way up her face and formed the side of a mask in a similar way to Toshiro's. For the eye, it could have taken the shape of a retucle or a hole with swirls around it, kind of in the shape of Tobi's mask fro Naruto.

I know people dislike how soifon treats omaeda but i always thought it was because she saw herself in him and how she kissed up to yoruichi like he does with her.

Shinji's bankai wasn't hollowfied either. Neither will Kensei and Rose's in Episode 5. All the Vaizard Captains got shafted by Kubo.

@@pmester228 A Shin’eiyaku was sent to every known bankai user in the Soul Society regardless if their bankai had been stolen or not. It did return stolen Bankai to their users but more importantly it made all bankai users immune from theirs getting stolen going forward.

Most of the Bankai we see other than Toshiro and Komamura's arnt hollowfied and drawn differently.
What part of Jakuho Raikoben is supposedly hollowfied here? To me atleast it looks identical to the one she used on Baraggan.

Either A) the recoil being so small is a testament to how much Soi-Fon has trained with it since Fake Karakura...
Or B) It's a result of her being so weak and near death, meaning it was nowhere near full power. There was a similar lack of recoil when she used it the second time against Barragon.

It's Hollowfied, but I wish Kubo gave just a simple edit of the Jakuho Raikoben, and that's to make its visor be an actual mask on Soifon's face. I get that, by being there, it gives off the "symbolic" mask angle, but it would have been cool to see Soifon with a freaking high tech scouter XD
I think that wouldn't fit the aesthetic of the anime, I don't remember to see someone else using high tech something, he did see some tech is this anime but nothing out of this world, that wouldn't work for her.

Ah.....THAT Bankai....Soi Fon.....leader of the Soul Society's ninja brigade...super fast, normal Shikai is a two hit death and silent as all get out if she wants it to be. THEN she bust out the Bankai and it's pretty much the "There is no I in team...there are however 6 I's in 'Screw it I don't care how big the room is I cast fireball!"....it's no wonder she hates using that thing and says how unstealthy it is lol.

In Toshiro’s case he literally wears his Bankai so when hollowfied it formed a little hollow mask. Soi Fon’s bankai is just summoning a giant missile. It’s separate from her body.

Has been since OG bleach. I guess it's possible that this is an unrefined bankai (hitsugaya also has an immature/unrefined bankai) but nobody's ever commented on it and Soi fons barely spoken of it herself aside from not liking it because it's too big and flashy for the stealth force.

@@Shuyin781 Manga community's best guess is "Knowledge" and BG9's abilities are likely something passive along the lines of remembering everything hes ever witnesses in perfect detail.

I will say, i really wish that her bankai was more hollowfied. Compared to toshiros daiguren hyorinmaru, you wouldn't be able to tell that her bankai is "hollowfied". Even her voice changing wouldve brought home the fact that her bankai is now part hollow.
