At 10:00 Higher the Frequency, More will be Critical Angle and MORE will be the Skip Distance.
2nd, at 9:50 More the Ionisation, lesser will be the Critical Angle and LESSER will be the Skip Distance .
please mention that, as that's the basic of radio waves and if students get conflicting things in mind then it only confuses them when actual question will come in exam

This is probably the best discussion of propogation I've come across, and gave a good introduction to the idea of Critical Angle/Ray. If I may say so though, I think a few words on Near Vertical Incident Skywave ("NCIS") would have been helpful, ie (as you know), the beaming of HF signals towards the Ionosphere at a very steep angle, resulting in their refraction/reflection back to Earth at a commensurately steep angle, so that coverage can be achieved in what would otherwise be a zone of 'dead space', or in areas that theoretically ought to be reachable by Line of Sight (I think!) or Groundwave transmission, but where, in fact, the existence of very mountainous terrain means that a lot of 'dead spots' exist because they are in radio 'shadow'. Also, personally, I would have appreciated a few words on how the different means of propogation relate to the broadcast radio bands (VHF/FM, and Short, Medium and Long Wave, as they used to be known, also known as - loosely speaking - 'AM')... although it may be that you have covered this in another video.

Nice video. Could you make videos about the following topics:
1.Equation of motion for level, unaccelerated flight
    2. Thrust and power required for level, unaccelerated flight
    3. Power available for propeller and het engines
    4. Variation and power required with altitude
    5. Rate of Climb
    6. Glide angle
It would be really nice to make these video since I want to study it for my academic test for admission to TU Delft Aerospace Engineering. Thanks 🙏.

At 5:30 your diagram for Night should depict a much depleted E Layer. "At night the E layer weakens because the primary source of ionization is no longer present. After sunset an increase in the height of the E layer maximum increases the range to which radio waves can travel by reflection from the layer."

I am a little confused. My understanding is that higher frequencies are weaker than the lower frequencies but as explained here, the higher frequencies escapes thru the ionized layer because of their strength and doesn't get reflected back to earth.

Weaker for range but have lots of energy because of frequency, they can break things because of their frequency.

Just have a one quick doubt
DUCTING used VLF band as per you mentioned in your video But I guess VHF and other frequencies are used!!!
DO reply and clear my DOUBTt!?

    • @poh
      @poh  3 месяца назад

Ducting is a phenomenon which generally lower band and even lower band of VHF ranges also get affected so accordingly range gets decided.

That is anyway an approximation. Can use either, doesn't matter.

Some "basic" topics for pilot level of understanding don't need a lot of explanations and is not rocket science and hence it may seem reading to you. You can choose to not use the video. Thank you.
