I like Hong Seokcheon. I think he can be hilarious (watch him tease Heechul about the type and frequency of women he brought to private rooms at his restaurant). I think he can be poignant and heartbreaking (watch the episode of Do You Eat? where he talks about coming out to his parents). I think he is more talented than many of the comics I've seen on Korean variety shows. HOWEVER, I find the premise of this bit uncomfortable -- the concept that him flirting with Juyeon is humorous because he is gay. It reminds me (and feeds into) the way gayness is treated in Korean dramas: the "humorous" situation where a character is perceived gay when they are, of course, straight and the hijinks that ensue. I hope to see the day where the concept of being gay alone isn't played for laughs. BTW, people can find this clip uncomfortable for reasons having nothing to do with Hong Seok-cheon being gay. Maybe they are uncomfortable with him flirting with someone 20 or more years younger than he is, for instance.
I'm sure there are plenty of gay Idols, stylists, hairdressers, choreographers, etc. So most Idols will be comfortable with someone who is gay. The problem I have is that there is so much prejudice against the LGBTQ community that the topic of potential gay attraction is treated as a joke.

He's the reason some idols are even alive, providing food for them, giving them a platform. Juyeon looks up to this man and went to his restaurants even before becoming an idol.
