If ever there was a country artist ready to set the world on fire, it would have to be Tyler Braden. He has the gritty powerhouse vocal, the expressive pen and the ability to deliver a lyric with complete conviction worthy of a headliner. Braden grew up in Slapout, Alabama just miles from the graveyard memorial to Hank Williams. With parents who fostered an early appreciation for country music, guitar-playing songwriters populating the airwaves and a group of rock-loving friends by his side, he spent much of his life blending natural influences to craft a sound of his own. His early twenties saw him playing local shows and touring the southeast while serving as a first responder in Montgomery. A gig in Music City inspired a move north, and Braden continued firefighting in the suburbs of Nashville while preparing to take his music career to the next level. His first date at the homegrown Whiskey Jam concert series in January 2017 paved his path to today. With nearly 30 million streams already to his name and a growing list of major tour credits, he introduced himself to world as a major label recording artist this spring with his take on NEEDTOBREATHE hit “Brother.” Praised for his “commanding delivery” (MusicRow), Braden offered the song as a tribute to his first responder family and all those fighting on the frontlines during the pandemic. This summer he offered words from his own pen in his first original Warner Music Nashville release “Love Is A Dead End Road” (Braden, Chase Rice, Brock Berryhill) and most recently shared his solo-written reflection on a small town, “Secret.”

I was told in 2009 by my Mom's Pastor that I would end up in prison in the next 18 months. Here I am 13+ years sober pulling people out the same fire I once lived in on a daily basis. Not sober, S.W.I.M. keeps it at .20 and .30 every other weekend or thereabouts. Been keeping that balancing act for 16 years now, no wife, no kids, and no serious relationships (ain't met a girl whom I slept with that I'd trust with a baby, let alone my baby) except the nieces and nephews and litte cousins I help raise from babysitting, fishing, and tracking to hillybilly re-enactments of the French and Indian war using tennis balls soaked in paint on the end of arrows/spears/sticks to act like tomahawks.
For those people who said "country song lyrics are limited", I think Tyler proves them wrong because when you listen to his songs, they are very MEANINGFUL and BEAUTIFUL at the same time. ♥️
That statement isn't wrong. There are good songs/artists out there still. It doesn't change that the current state of newer country as a majority being in this awful snap track, surface level, no meaning, pandering phase it's been in. They're "catchy" tunes with forgettable lyrics.
I don't know why people refuse to admit to this. A few good artists who resist that trend and put in effort or a good song or two here and there don't change that fact.
You can enjoy the good artists and songs while pointing out the issue.
IMO it doesn't stop at country music. There are a lot of genres that stick to the same old "topics" in their songs. Most hip -hop/rap songs talk about "drugs" "sex" and "violence." and I'm not hating on it. My boyfriend loves rap and tolerates country because it's my favorite, but I listen to all genres of music. It just gets irritating when someone says "all country songs are about the same stuff." Uhmmmm name 5 popular hip-hop/rap songs that don't mention anything violent or sexual and then tell me country music always mentions the same shit.

It doesn't matter if other genres do the same thing or not. They aren't what is being discussed, nor did anyone say they did or didn't.
That's just trying to shift the topic and refusing to admit it's become a major issue in the genre you like.

I agree FLG talks too much about lifted trucks, drinking beer, etc. Also why would it not matter if other genres do the same thing or not? How was that not being discussed? And how people who prefer other genres over country music always say the lyrics are the same "my dog died. My wife left me, etc." And what exactly did I say that's a "fallacy" ? I never said all of the hip-hop/rap genre use lyrics involving drugs, sex & violence. Just a lot of them do. Especially popular ones. You don't here the rap songs about depression and real life situations played on the radio do you? No. it's ones about having a WAP, selling drugs, shootings, etc. You gotta find that real heartfelt deep shit here on youtube. Make sure you read shit right before you go telling someone that their OPINION is invalid.

I know this song is about making it as a singer, but I can relate to this song. We just moved out of our home town. 11 years ago this month. Best decision we ever made. My daughter is growing up with things I couldn't even dream about when I was growing up. I am so glass we didn't listen to them.
