- Recorded in 1962, released in Japan under the title “The Inner Man” in 1977 and finally re-released in the west by Affinity under the above title in 1982, this is a great little live jazz album featuring musicians John Coltrane (Sax), Eric Dolphy (Sax/Flute), McCoy Tyner (Piano), Jimmy Garrison (Bass) and Elvin Jones (Drums).

I first purchased this music through mail order from an Ad in Downbeat magazine, 1976. The store was Happy Tunes Records in NYC and the album title was That Dynamic Duo: John Coltrane and Eric Dolphy, on the Ozone bootleg LP label. Since then this has been the soundtrack for my entire life! Recorded off the AM radio broadcast by the legendary Boris Rose. Body and Soul is from a different broadcast later in 62 or 63 after Eric had left the group.
I say, "Bring them out for an encore!" SUPERB!!!!!!!
Seems to be the 9 Feb 62 Birdland Concert but the presence of a marvellous Body and Soul version is a news.
Second Coltrane's solo on MFT is brilliant and overflowing with musical colors
