    I have an appointment at a Ford dealer that I've never used for my 2014 Ford F-150 STX Sport 4x4 on July 9 to address the recall 24S37 (NHTSA Recall Number24V444). So basically all 500,000 need the calibration level checked and updated if needed and they are hoping to only find 5,000 that actually need leadframe replaced.

    • @BeardedFordTech
      @BeardedFordTech  7 месяцев назад +1

      @brandongarnold no. Only 5500 will need a lead frame or a calibration. One of the other. Lead frame is only if codes are present. If no codes then it's just software.

    • @brandongarnold
      @brandongarnold 7 месяцев назад +1

      @@BeardedFordTechNo I don’t think you fully understand. All 550k are included in the recall. The service procedure asks are the codes present or not. Yes- You change the leadframe and update the calibration. No- You just go to page 5 and perform the calibration and on page 5 it also states some may already have the updated calibration. The main goal in this recall is to get the calibration updated to prevent the 1st gear default when there is a sensor malfunction inside the transmission in which all F150s 2011-2014 were programmed the same when built. Ford wants the leadframe replaced if the faults are found just to squash any issues the customer may be having at the time of the recall.

    • @BeardedFordTech

      @brandongarnold ford literally said less than 1% are effected. I've done a few on the 2014 course they weren't a recall at the time or even a TSB. The tab was for 11-13. It's weird they didn't include the 14 cause it's the exact same. I'm really glad I don't have to do them anymore. They aren't hard. But I'm happy the only warranty type stuff I do is for my fleet now.

    This was almost never an issue with fully hydraulic control transmissions, and if it was a problem a simple adjustment to linkage or vacuum modulator fixed it, although valve body work was sometimes required
    Its a big reason why I do not own computer controlled vehicles
    I would be seriously tempted to stuff an older transmission with an adapter plate in those trucks.
    If the factory doesnt make them the way I want.....I can and will.
    I have 52 years in automotive repair...so its not an issue for me.

    I had to replace the lead frame on my 2017 5.0 six speed it didn’t drop to 1st gear but it wouldn’t come out of 3rd this was around 120,000 km or roughly 72,000 miles for my friends south of the border. They also replaced the valve body because for some reason it was quicker to get both units already put together than to just get the lead frame , any way it cost me $3,800 Canadian l wonder if ford will reimburse me (lol)
