I have a Subaru Cross Trek and love my Subaru. I have been looking to enter the electric market, but Subaru is going to have to do far better in MPG single charge milage. Not going to pop for a new electric until they are well over 400 miles to a single charge. This is when an electric car is practical. Keep going Subaru, I will be watching.

I want to be able to use the vehicle battery for storage from our solar pv system so that we can remain independent from the grid and save even more money. @@barbaraperez1913 Bidirectional meaning the car battery is fully integrated into the home circuit and could provide power back to the house during the night when direct solar is unavailable. Personally, I'm not sure that I would even want that as I would want my car at full charge at the start of the day and it would mean your solar array would have nowhere to store during the day when you're away. I'd rather have a dedicated PowerWall style storage system for the solar that's not at risk of getting taken offline by a car accident.

Unlike petro fueled vehicles, I think EV's will have to be niched by their intended use until the mega battery shows up. Marketing: I believe most people buy whatever is the slickest, coolest, cheapest (or most expensive) concept floated to them. Tekkies love to dig into specifications, but that is not what sells the pareto principle of anything - the volume is needed for manufacturers to afford to build whatever. Untekkies think that they can put enough solar panels on a vehicle (they can't - heck, I would need an acre of panels and a bunker of batteries to power an air conditioner on my home) So, EV's are city cars primarily until the mega battery shows up. Then there are the fringe EV's - the Bronco, Subaru?, Rivian. Going forward there will be start-ups, fits and starts, lawsuits, bankruptcies, consolidation, grid power issues and someday in the future - say 2050 or so maybe the all purpose EV battery system will be pulling freight trains, powering passenger aircraft and offroad suv's truly in the outback of Australia.

Hopefully, Japan has its shit figured out since they are researching carbon isotope batteries though the track record isn’t good. Japan dropped the ball on TVs, chips and even phones letting Korea, PRC and its breakaway province Taiwan take the lead. Japan had re-industrialized decades before east Asia after World War 2.
