- "Demon Angel" - A Day And Night With Roky Erickson
from the back of the box:
"A Rare glimpse into the mind and music of Roky Erickson, one of American Rock's most influential and inspirational singer-songwriters. Demon Angel contains live performance footage shot on Halloween night, 1984 in Austin, Texas. Roky performs his songs solo on electric and acoustic guitar and in duet with guitarist/producer Mike Alvarez. Exclusive interviews with Roky, his friends, family, and long-time supporter Bill Bentley give further insight into this fascinating artist."
This is one of the coolest videos I've ever seen on YTube. He just plays that song so effortlessly and beautifully, as if he'd been playing it his whole life, and in the back seat of a car no less, to an audience of probably two! Just sublime. It really seals the deal on just how crazy talented Roky really is. Even more so than the great documentary You're Gonna Miss Me even conveys, and that's saying alot.
Couldn't agree more, well said ;-D
Man...i hope the guy who filmed this realises how lucky he was...im sure he does. this is absolutely stunning...particularly the line "tell me waht the trip you took/has done for you", you wil never hear a more poignant line anywhere. ever. Roky is a f´ing genius...god bless you Roky
I swear I swear he's an actual angel I swear
Possesed by demons
@@Quenetuis *oppressed
he's the creature with the atom brain.
Roky is Great - This song is really a masterpiece. His voice is the greatest for acoustic music...
He is so present. I've known this song as a teenager in the 80's on a mixed tape and I would have never guessed it was recorded in the backseat of a moving automobile. So cool someone had the sense to press record.
So much of roky's music takes me to wonderful"FAR-OUT"places and then he can break your heart with stuff like this...
A very special human being
Rocky was the one and only!!!!
So effortless...Roky has an amazing natural talent for music. His mind was pretty gone at this stage wandering into dark corners and yet he can still play something like this without effort and play with emotion. Legend!
Roky is my favorite musician ever, one of the reasons is because I can relate to him, he suffered a lot from his schizophrenia and at a time when the treatments were so poor, I’m lucky I live in a more modern era.
Roky Erickson !!!
This song gives me goosebumps.
Totally Brilliant, a pure natural talent, that makes sonic dreams come true ;-D
I want Roky Erickson to play music in my car!
Roky stands alone!!!!
I love this song! Love you Roky!!
Oh thank you, thank you, I'm a Roky fan and this footage is the best stuff that I have seen on RUclips!!
Wow, I cried. So fucking beautiful!
that made me cry.
I think roky and steven patrick morissey have had a lot depression in there life, but they still have become beautiful human beings.
They did this to him. They couldn't just leave him alone. Though threw his struggles arose a mighty man, he was still broken and never was able to truly recover. I miss the 60s and am disappointed that the ocean line broke and washed away what could have been the end of western culture. Along with this type of music were also radical books that if combined would form such a drug fused all natural high that flips your insides out.
Now the stars listen to him, didn't they always loved him?
Well this is one of the great originals still left from the sixties, quite underrated in my opinion. like this tune a lot - and the video!
nothin' to ad , except , it's wonderfull
in few days more stuffs from this amazing doc!!

Atleast so many examples appreciated for the ones who truely loved an hated how the out come of one so talented unfolded for rokys rest of hos life an family an real friends

Since having powell st johns own version now an seeing how mr erickson an the elevators did their version too good to be true. Always want the origenal version if possible. Imsgine if the Elevators had stayed in San Francisco?

This video makes me cry
Genius
Roky plays that with like no effort flawlessly. But his enunciations astound me as if he had voice lessons but sure he did from his mother an teacher who taught him too play an sing. I want to hear Evalyn Erickson sing Oh Holy Night on the 45 seen on the roky doc.since I live in southern indiana an talk like a hick wackadoodle. Here roky plays in bacj of a movung vegicle with a masters ease. So lucky I was turned obto them by lazy cowgirls 1984
this is THE most important bard moment that has ever happened in the real life moments of bard...fuck it REAL MAGA #BardLife

It's coming around again. Just wait. He's like a zephar on the right track now. Just wait....

Anyone know the chords for this one??
I would say (C, B, Am, F, G) x3, (C, C,F,E,G,F,C) x1, and then maybe C,B, Dm, F, G in the transition there somewhere. Sorry if this is two years late lol!
