That was the good ole days with the Tuna boats lined up to the horizon coming into Wesport and Grey. I left school at 15 in Grey and worked on the boats got my skippers ticket at 22 and started running the Cascade every 2nd trip with Craig Jones
Remember when VHS come out, we thought it was unbelievable, a revolution in filming for the ordinary Joe in the street. Now look where we are in such a short time, unbelievable. Great footage thanks for the clip, one thing I took away from this is the more modern steel hulls seem to be better at crossing the bar
Places like this is where having plenty of motor under your feet sure helps but whatever you have you better make dam sure she is in proper order. Not the place you want dirty fuel sloshing around or some steering linking failing. It could get you wet at very least.
Awesome clip nice shot of the Bargara did a few seasons oystering with the cousins back in the day 😎👍

Never forget this was, in the old days, done under sail.
Thank you for posting this, it's great to have this video digitized and saved for future generations.
A lot of good men have left love ones behind on these bars, Lest We Forget Those Brave Soles .
Thatäs boathandling! Knowing when to turn for the waves and when to throttle up or down. Wow!
It looks like they know what they are doing. Well done and thank you kindly.

Excellent video ... !!
Wonder what size shingles was this day
think the white boat had engine trouble and the red one looked to standby till she was safe
Is it always like this?
Shame the camera was moving around so much resting on the car roof would have helped.
They seem realy underpowered
Check the water flow, fully loaded.
