This performance of "Oh Holy Night" is from 2012. For my money Sohyang was the best vocalist in the world by the 2010 to 2012 time period. She has a host of astounding performances beginning then, though she actually did not win this episode of the singing contest. Sohyang was not well known in South Korea at that time, and oftentimes in these types of shows the winners are determined by how famous you are, not on your abilities displayed. Outrageous yes, but not uncommon. Even so, Sohyang is regarded by those around the world familiar with her vocal skills as the greatest female voice of our era. 👽🛸💖😇
her version of the Michael Jackson song: Will You Be There (2010) is spectacular. She sings with inspired feel and uses her range, dynamics and control to serve the song instead of the other way around, and that is everything! #VocalGoddess
It is simple, Chris, the A in Hyang is actually more like an O, so it is like 'So Young' like she looks 'so young'. That is closer anyway. And believe it or not she just turned 44 years old this month, though she looks 25! Great reaction. She is incredible!
Another GREAT reaction. If you want to hear a BADASS RAPPER, then I strongly recommend you react to the PHENOMENAL So Hyang singing, "Day Day", from Begin Again Korea. She is spitting bars like she's been doing it all of her life. During the first year of the pandemic, So Hyang, along with some popular musicians and K-Pop singers, signed on to perform mini acoustic concerts throughout South Korea. The purpose was to bring joy to people during the pandemic. The small audiences were selected through a lottery.
Chris, lol! Ya crack me up how mad ya get, brother 😆 But her name is pronounced So-young, (like if you were heard Sohyang is 45 .. and said wow, she looks “so young”). THAT’s it! Ty ♥️ keep going
Most of us are not trying to dog on you, just educate. 💜 My favourit Oh Holy Night. 😊 She actually didn't win because this was 2012 and these contests go by audience vote and they were there to vote for their favourite artists. She gradually become more well know and loved since I Am A Singer, it was her first singing contest.
Let me introduce what they talked about in the pre-interview. Interviewer(I): You're finally at the final. Congratulations. Sohyang(S): Haha, I can't believe it. I: Are you confident today? S: I was surprised to see the National Stan (the Famous Korean Rock Singer) fall last week. I thought it was unpredictable. I: What's the song you're going to sing today? S: Oh Holy night. I: That's a Carol, isn't it? You're going to be in this tough competition with that? Is it okay? S: It's a Carol but I've been working on this for 15 years with sharpening my knife, so it'll be okay. I: You prepared Oh holy night with sharpening your knife? S: Ha ha.😂🤣😅
Don’t be discouraged! Your doing a good job! Keep it up! So they are giving you a hard time about her name! LoL Most just call her SoYoung! Just do your best That’s good enough :-)
Chris, since you love her like we do, I'll help you to get her name right, or close enough. Her formal name is Kim So Hyang. In Korea, the Surname is given first. Her family name is Kim. Her stage name is Sohyang. The closest Americans have come to pronouncing her stage name is 'Soyong'. That should work for you. Or, 'Soyoung" works too. There you have it. You're good to go. Cheers.
@@ToddSauve Well, I CAN, but only because I have had a lot of practice. 🙂 I'm just trying to get some folks past their absolute butchering of her stage name, or calling her Kim, or So, or Yang . . . . 🤐
😍😍😍😍😍💕💕
oh my queen 👸 😊❤

She unfortunately came third place and you aren’t wrong about her placement being rigged
Bro, her name is not that difficult. 😂 Here's an easy version (only 80% correct). So Young...as in she's so young looking.
