Totally right that it never gets old watching Katelyn et al win. She has given a lot to the sport.

Thank you for posting this. I have been refreshing every 30 minutes since Friday. ESPN+ has decided I need a TV provider in addition to ESPN. Screw that.

My favorites at 2023 NCAA Cross Country: Chelsea Chmiel and Tuohy of NC State, Maatoug of Duke and Valby of Florida, with Tuohy and Maatoug battling for first at the end. NC State edges out NAU for the team title. Whomever wins the individual title will have to run under 19 minutes, which gives the edge to Tuohy.

I love Ogilvie's unashamed fan-boy opinion of Katelyn. The thing is, he has had the responsibility of coaching many champions over his time at Duke. In fact, virtually everyone who shows up at Duke athletics is a champion somewhere, and has to adjust to being a small to medium fish in a big pond. With that perspective, he sees a big fish when one swims into his ken, and he frankly acknowledges that KT is it. I love it.
There are reasons why I have heard him reiterate for at least the third time his contention that there is no need for Tuohy to turn pro, because she has better benefits than the pros have (excepting altitude) plus she makes decent money doing it, all while maintaining her collegiate eligibility. At the NCAAs, if Katelyn is in good enough trim to stalk Parker the whole way, then go full gas and put her away in the final three or four hundred meters, she will become electric. Dropping out to go pro at the midwinter break (she already has enough credits to graduate) to pursue her Olympic dream seems to me a will o'the wisp, a pipe dream, considering the potential Olympic field with Monson, Cranny, Morgan, etc. who are just faster, now. Stay in school and settle up those nagging question marks in the record book: Sisson's indoor 5000 record, and Simpson's outdoor 1500 record. If Katelyn Tuohy could graduate with all of the indoor and outdoor major records in her name, some of which could stand for a long time, she records her name indelibly as the collegiate runner with only one peer: Jenny Barringer Simpson. Katelyn: please follow the wise counsel of Coach Ogilvie: stay for the spring semester and deal with these unresolved challenges. PJT

All of her Olympic competition lives and trains at altitude. She needs to get to altitude to have the best chance.

@@ljn5232 Absolutely true and she will not have success even in fall 2025 as a pro if she doesn't go to altitude. But her first, or earliest Olympic year is '28, in my opinion. Thanks for the feedback.

Notice at 1:13:12 Leah Stephens' earrings. She is so serious, like an Italian nonna, and glamorous (like many Italian grandmothers, I suspect). I predict she is the next Wolfpack superstar.
