  • Koleje Wielkopolskie (KW) was founded 10 years ago, in 2011, and is the railroad operator providing passenger services in the whole Wielkopolska Voivodeship in Poland.
The aim of the operator is to significantly improve the quality of the trains as well as the frequencies for the users. KW is also the operator of the Poznań Metropolitan Railway (PKM) network, which is co-financed by the Wielkopolska Voivodeship Self-government, the city of Poznań, Poznań county, and communities located in the area of the Poznań railroad junction.
The first five PKM lines will connect the neighboring cities of Poznań. The reach of the PKM lines is to be extended to improve traffic not only in the Poznań metropolitan area itself, but also in the entire Wielkopolska region. IRMA 6 passenger counting sensors have been installed in all newly purchased 36WEhd Impuls trains from the Polish manufacturer NEWAG. The three-car trains are an important addition to the fleet used on the PKM network on the Poznań - Wągrowiec - Gołańcz and Poznań - Grodzisk Wlkp. - Wolsztyn lines. Thanks to the passenger numbers, KW will now adjust the size of the fleet and the frequency of trains to the demand for rail transport in the Wielkopolskie Voivodeship.
This is public transport for people and their needs.
