Smith & Wesson 632-2 chambered in .327 Federal Magnum, 6 shot air frame, and it shoots .327 Fed Mag, .32 H&R Mag, and a couple of other .32 caliber rounds including .32 ACP in a pinch. .32 ACP is semi-rimless so it will shoot from a .327 Magnum. Ruger's SP101 in .327 or their LCR in .327 are also fun. The Chiappa is a fun little pistol. I have an old carbon steel frame Colt Detective Special and a Colt alloy frame Agent, 2.125 inch barrel snub nose revolvers reamed from .38 Special to .357 Magnum, and I have yet to blow one up. My personal favorite? The Colt Magnum Carry. Prepare to pay $4000 or so for the Magnum Carry .357 Colt. It is (WAS) essentially a modernized Detective Special built to handle .357.

Back in the Oughts I had some trigger time on a Kahr K9 and was struck by how it was basically a slicked-up DAO carry revolver that happened to feed from 7 rd 9mm magazines. Insanely accurate in slow fire.
I only have one Revolver from your list, the Ruger GP100. Mine is a 1998 6 shot model which I bought used slightly over 5 years ago. I've shot well over 1500 combined rounds of .38 Spl and .357 Mag with it, and it's one of my listed Duty Weapons on my permit. I love her, and she gets shot almost every time I shoot!!! I'm always on the lookout for a reasonably priced used Chiappa Rhino with the 3" or 4" barrel. I've fired a few friend's Rhinos on numerous occasions and I like the way it feels and shoots. I already own two Chiappa Revolvers which I thoroughly enjoy, both 1873 SAA models, a 10 shot .22LR with a 7.5" barrel and a .45LC with the 4.75" barrel. Though not a good choice for Self-defense, SAA Revolvers are amazingly fun to shoot!!!
First time I shot a rino it hurt. Took me a second to realize why, its because of my high grip it the was recoiling straight into my palm without any flip. Its certainly interesting, and id like to find a good used one in .357/.38
63 year old fudd with my 40 year old model 36 1 3 inch and 4 inch 357 Security Six will have to wait on the lotto for that GP 100 in 10mm to shoot up left over 40 duty ammo along side my S&W 1917 45 5 inch. Ps, 380 Taurus moon clips revolver rides as backup to my carry autos lol.
Maybe the best weird Smith that they don't make anymore is the 386 Series. I bought one used that had a 4 inch undercut barrel and 7 round .357 titanium cylinder. Fiber optic front sight and a scandium L frame. It was marketed as the modern replacement for the Model 19/66, but it only lasted on the market for a year and a half before Smith pulled it. Mine was a joy to shoot but I made the mistake of letting my daughter shoot it. It became her backcountry hiking gun.
Revolvers are classics and amazingly fun. I have a Ruger Blackhawk .44 mag from 1982 and that shiny beast is my baby! A lot of fun to shoot but kicks like a damn mule lol
I really like the Ruger Redhawk 8 shot 357/38. The only problem is that I can carry two 6 shots for the same or less money. If someone could bring out an affordable 8 shot .38 or .32 DA revolver life could be a dream.
Thanks for the video! You succeeded in creating a list that was both "weird-ish" and interesting. I was vaguely aware of all of the Smith & Wesson entries. None of them have ever really seemed worth the extra price to me. Even the Rhino seems to be a neat gun that doesn't do enough that is unique to justify the price. If I'm going to carry a revolver concealed, I'll deal with the reduced power of .38 Special and increased weight of a steel cylinder to carry a Smith & Wesson 642 or 642 Airweight. I've made up the term "discrete carry" for places where I don't need to be truly concealed but don't want to be as obvious as open carry would be. For places like that, I've often thought of buying and carrying something like a Ruger SP101 with a 4.2 inch barrel in .357 Magnum. That would be a tough gun to conceal, but it wouldn't be as heavy as GP100. Five rounds of .357 Magnum would be an effective argument against many dangers. I wouldn't plan to put tens of thousands of full magnum rounds through the gun. Even if the gun could handle that service, my hands would not be happy. For places where I want to be a little discrete but have some power, I've always thought that this combination had value. I really enjoyed hearing about the 10mm GP100 because I could see that gun fitting that "discrete carry" niche. The gun would weigh more, but in places where I wanted more power than I could get from .38 Special or even .357 Magnum, the extra power would be worth the cost of the extra weight. If my healthy hadn't failed, I'd have been hiking in bear country in Wyoming. I was thinking of getting the 4-inch SP101 for that scenario. The 3-inch, 10mm GP100 would be a better choice. I'll never be in a position to afford this gun or even have a good use for this gun. Even so, I appreciate knowing that it exists. In many ways, this gun fills the niche that .41 Magnum used to fill. The difference is that 10mm ammunition is more available these days (or at least going forward after the current shortage) than .41 Magnum is. The ability to shoot .40 S&W adds further to the ammo availability advantage. This revolver would also combine well with a 10mm carbine. Again, that was a great choice for this list. Thank you!
I have an SP101 3". I had a very good trigger job done on it. It is like butter. That extra sight radius really helps. Also, in a pancake leather OWD holster, lays completely flat, and is very concealed. Sure, not my go to the city carry gun (live way out in the country in Texas), but, to the nearest town to buy supplies, it is fine. I want a 3", six shot 44spl revolver. Someone should make that gun. Use modern light weight materials, and put a decent front sight on it. That is a wonderful cartridge if you handload.
I've love a Taurus 617 that doesn't weigh 28 ounces. Maybe 20? Yeah, it's a Taurus but it's a 2" 7-shot snubby. I carry a Ruger LCR 38 & LCRX 38 & I'd carry speed loaders too if someone made carriers that didn't flop around on my belt like they're on a string (5-Star).
I guess I have a weird revolver fetish because I already own all five of these! My daily carry is the 327 PC and my favorite of the bunch is 10mm GP100. But all five have their benefits and are fantastic guns!
I knew where you were going. The 327, despite it's advantages, is still a weird looking painted pony chunk. I would love to have the Ruger. A stub 686 7 shot is probably about the same size. Love the idea of the Rhino low bore axis and the flatted cylinder. Love to have one. Still weird looking. Sigh, I have to stick with my J Frames and small autos.
I own and carry both the S&W PD and the Chiappa Rhino 200DS (with Chiappa's ultra rare factory "stage 1" trigger job that they don't even offer any more). Love both, but I carry the ultralight S&W PD more because it's so damn light. Recoil isn't bad in either if you use milder 357. Plus, the S&W has aftermarket laser grips available to make aiming wayyy easier while the Chiappa does not. BUT the S&W restricts you to bullets of no less than 120 grains. So if you want to use ultralight ammo (like Liberty or ARX, etc) ya can't or it will cause cylinder erosion of the titanium.
I own and shoot often your top 2 and while I agree that they are both deserving of a top spot I’d reverse them. My 20ds might be a unicorn but it’s DA trigger is noticeably better than the 327 pc. Thanks for your great content! Yours is the only one I support through patreon!!

Zero love, rare expensive ammo without the cheap option of practice ammo with the .357/.38. The .327s might have been successful if they pushed it 50yrs ago, no way for it to gain mainstream popularity these days.
@@junichiroyamashita well duh. None of those are as cheap and readily available as .38spl. Heck, I actually have a few guns in .32ACP and I still rarely see it stocked in a store.
The Rhino is the only one that's truly "weird" due to its design. That said, I'd go with number five since the reality is that if I'm ever going to need to shoot in self-defense outside of my home then things will likely be very up-close and personal so something like that is fine.

My perceived advantage of a revolver over an autoloader is the independence from extra integral components to make the machine operate. All I need is the gun and the ammo, nothing more. So to my mind, if the gun requires another part, such as a moon clip, then I might as well have an autoloader with a magazine that is sturdier and holds more rounds.
I carry the 2" Chiappa Rhino as my daily carry inside the waistband. I bought it at a pawn shop, and it was well used, which saved me a bit of money.
"The cylinder is made of mithril, which glows a very soft blue whenever orcs are nearby. Okay, none of that was true"

My Walther glows when Joggers are near,...
Back in the Oughts I had some trigger time on a Kahr K9 and was struck by how it was basically a slicked-up DAO carry revolver that happened to feed from 7 rd 9mm magazines. Insanely accurate in slow fire.
Did he call Jack Daniels, Bourbon? Jack Daniels is Tennessee whiskey my friend.
Love my rhino, the only revolver I have ever carried
Came here for the chiappa club
Been carrying it for 2 years now lol
First time I shot a rino it hurt.
Took me a second to realize why, its because of my high grip it the was recoiling straight into my palm without any flip.
Its certainly interesting, and id like to find a good used one in .357/.38
63 year old fudd with my 40 year old model 36 1 3 inch and 4 inch 357 Security Six will have to wait on the lotto for that GP 100 in 10mm to shoot up left over 40 duty ammo along side my S&W 1917 45 5 inch. Ps, 380 Taurus moon clips revolver rides as backup to my carry autos lol.
S&W knows how to build revolver but QC let's them go out with canted barrels
Yhay is why I shoot 44 special thru mine.
I really like the Ruger Redhawk 8 shot 357/38. The only problem is that I can carry two 6 shots for the same or less money.
If someone could bring out an affordable 8 shot .38 or .32 DA revolver life could be a dream.
I do unmentionable things with my 6" Rhino. It's the love of my life
I purchased a S&W 642 Airweight used for around $400, and it's been a great carry option. Like you, I carry autos primarily.
I wish the mateba unica would make a comeback. Its literally a semi auto revolver with the benefits of a rhino but 10x the aesthetic
Designed by the same guy who died in 2008. I do like the Mateba's looks a little bit more too.
The high-concentration of zingers in this one is appreciated
I've love a Taurus 617 that doesn't weigh 28 ounces. Maybe 20? Yeah, it's a Taurus but it's a 2" 7-shot snubby. I carry a Ruger LCR 38 & LCRX 38 & I'd carry speed loaders too if someone made carriers that didn't flop around on my belt like they're on a string (5-Star).
I guess I have a weird revolver fetish because I already own all five of these! My daily carry is the 327 PC and my favorite of the bunch is 10mm GP100. But all five have their benefits and are fantastic guns!
At the 12:50 mark, that S&W 327 (357 Mag) 8 shot revolver is pretty sweet. The $1350-ish MSRP is very rough though.
I use moonclips but they bend really easy. I gave it up and use the Comp I or II for revolvers... Pretty much the same load speed.
329 pd been nice to see on this list as a special guest
Would love to see a top break version of the rhino.
LOVE AND PEACE!
@@IntenseSpirit Guess we could call a top-break version the Stampede?
now this is my kind of comment.
bottom break -- it's a bottom fire dont forget
I bought the Rhino 3” in OD green...FANTASTIC!
I am a revolver NUT but still choose a Glock 26 for CCW. For the range however revolvers are hard to beat.
I tote a gen 5 Glock 26 9x19mm with a few upgrades. ✔ both at work 👮🏼♂️ & for ccw. I use Magpul 15, 17rd 9mm mags with 0 problems.
I own and shoot often your top 2 and while I agree that they are both deserving of a top spot I’d reverse them. My 20ds might be a unicorn but it’s DA trigger is noticeably better than the 327 pc. Thanks for your great content! Yours is the only one I support through patreon!!
*_Good News!!!_*
Arizona has a statewide Second Amendment Sanctuary bill that just passed the House and is on the way to the Senate.
I cannot add links without being censored so I recommend all Arizonan's seek out the Gun Owners of America site and search for *"Arizona Sanctuary".* Follow the simple instructions and act accordingly. It is literally a minimum of two mouse clicks and your form is complete at its most basic level.
However, feel free to add in your own verbiage (keep it clean and civil) so it does not get glossed over as just another 'cut & paste' template from GOA. Please and Thank You.
Now is our chance to make our great state No. 48 a Second Amendment Sanctuary _State._ Not just a single county, township or city - _but the entire state!_
Stay classy my friends.
In addition: I would like to add the Smith & Wesson TRR8 and R8 to this list of unique revolvers.
EDITED for follow up commentary.
Speaking of censored as soon as I came up on good news an ad popped up and made me find this again, I'm glad I have some family talking about going there. I'm off to montana they already had those laws. Colorado is going in the wrong direction but they have me until montana starts recreational sales, Arizona the police can disarm you simply for carrying. At least for now Colorado has it in law that if you are carrying and doing so safely and lawfully the police may not stop you and ask questions about your gun or disarm you simply because somebody was uncomfortable with you having a gun, I've read to many stories about somebody walking down the street in Arizona being detained and disarmed for nothing and the person not being able to do anything about it because no lawyer would help their broke ass and I quote "because there was no case"
Use a loading tool and unloading tool to keep your moon clips from getting bent up. TK Custom has stainless steel moon clips that are top-of-the-line.
Capacity is for people who can't shoot, real men carry a derringer in 500 S&W or 458 Winchester Magnum
Capacity keeps you safe in dangerous unexpected situations. Some stupid shit can always happen causing you to miss shots in the heat of the moment
@@chaseramos4865 my friend, did... did you really think that I wasn't joking?
That look at the GP100 handling when 10mm moon clips sounds good to me because I have way too much 40S&W ammo which could run fine through the 100.
No love for .327's? A little less power than .357, but generally a round or two extra capacity in the same small package.
I haven't shot it, but the specs and benefits of the .327 are very interesting.
Zero love, rare expensive ammo without the cheap option of practice ammo with the .357/.38. The .327s might have been successful if they pushed it 50yrs ago, no way for it to gain mainstream popularity these days.
@@scottylee4297 it has the training ammo, you can use 32 Mag,32 long and even 32 acp.
@@junichiroyamashita well duh. None of those are as cheap and readily available as .38spl. Heck, I actually have a few guns in .32ACP and I still rarely see it stocked in a store.
@@scottylee4297 i love my 327, and 32 ammo can be found cheap, although covid has made it harder
The Performance center trigger is very, very good.
But have you ever tried a Dan Wesson...?
The Rhino is the only one that's truly "weird" due to its design.
That said, I'd go with number five since the reality is that if I'm ever going to need to shoot in self-defense outside of my home then things will likely be very up-close and personal so something like that is fine.
Great list. Love 10 mm & Ruger GP. It’s a tank. Agree about the grips also. Not many aftermarket choices either. The rubber snags on cover garments.
Safty first. Make sure you wrap your wood in rubber!
I love revolvers, and one of my more frequent carries is a 30DS chiappa rhino, I completely recommend this gun, only issue is you’ll likely need to order a custom holster as I did, but 100% worth it
He just mad that a bad Revolver will always be cooler than any self-loading pistol .
Revolvers vs auto loaders are just like the AK vs AR, it just comes down to which one fits you better and are comfortable with or you might have both cause they both are comfortable for you
James... have you ever taken the Voight-Kampff Test?
I've got the 43C(.22lr J-frame) for pocket carry but need a Chiappa 9mm because I can't realistically sleep with my krink under the sheets.
I lost it when you said Smith and Wessonese😂
I’ve had my 327 PCC with cocobolo grips for well over a decade now, and it’s easily my favorite CCW wheel gun. Great review, James. Now I’ve got 10mm to consider....
Next week: Top 5 black powder revolvers for concealed carry
1858 Remington New Army.
They allow you to simply dump the cylinder like a magazine and load another in in under 5 seconds.
@@gungriffen Bit big tho. Colt 1851 Navy, any of the Colt pocket models, and so on.
Adams - DA and modern ergonomics of the grip
@@jon_watson3740 He said concealed carry. The Adams seems a bit big.
@@notforsaletoday1895 But which Adams model? Have you ever handled one? Standard English service Adams, which was 5 shot .44 is more compact than a K-frame smith and much more concealable than any other combat bp pistol out there. I mostly shoot replicas of Colts and Remingtons and boy those are clunky and big and ancient in comparison with Adams, which I had just once in my hands ( :( )
Thanks James,love the commentary,cracking me up,thanks
I think the Smith & Wesson 351PD is underrated. 7 shots of 22mag, cheap to practice and almost no recoil. Heavy trigger, but can be VERY accurate.
/ *Merwin Hulbert has entered the chat* /
P.S. We agree on #1. Good work.
The best reason to use a revolver is that they are classy and elegant; just like James short shorts.
Really surprised at how well the Rhino design works. Even 100 rounds of 357 Mag at the range is no problem, feels like a semi auto 9mm. And range time is important with a small carry gun
I think the Rhyno review getting a lot of views probably has something to do with the depiction of that gun in a lot of recent games like Rainbow six siege. Its a unique gun and when people see it they want to know more about it, pretty iconic at the point tbh
Rhino, not Rhyno.
@@wehrewulf 2 years late but... thanks bud
My daily carry is the SW model- 327 8-shot 357mag. uses moon clips. Works great. My other carry is a Glock G40, yes the 6 inch barrel of which I carry inside the waist band just fine and I get 15rds of 10mm.
I was today years old when I finally figured out that I was Rhino Curious.
That Rhino makes me feel things I've never felt about revolvers
Same. Its the only revolver I would ever buy.
The Yankee Marshal of WA is big on the 🦏 revolvers. Hes a fan 🥰. I feel uneasy about how the gases escape, possible 💥 hazard. You need to hold it carefully or you'll get a 🏥 trip...
Blade Runner reference? Amazing, James. Amazing.
No love for .32 magnum? Small, high capacity without the recoil of .357.
Also benefits more from shorter barrels.
I sometimes carry my 2" S&W model 10 in a shoulder holster with 2 speed loaders just because its cool.
Going for the 1970s Cop look. I like it!
Do you wear a Tom Threepersons rig? Or a Bianchi X15?

I carry the 2" Chiappa Rhino as my daily carry inside the waistband. I bought it at a pawn shop, and it was well used, which saved me a bit of money. I shot it until I cracked the aluminum frame (it still worked with a cracked frame). Who knows how many .357 rounds that revolver fired between me and the last owner. I sent it to Chiappa and they sent me a brand new one, no questions asked. I love the gun and I love the company.
Holy shit, I have to get a S&W 340PD now lol.
You will have the same box containing 48 .357 rounds for the rest of your life if you buy that gun
