Get Started with Square Online Checkout Links

Square Online Checkout lets you accept an online payment almost anywhere-via email, text message, social media, your website, and more.
Whether you want to simply collect a payment, sell items, classes, or tickets, or accept a donation, setup is quick and easy.
There are two ways to use Online Checkout to collect payments: create a shareable payment link to populate a custom checkout page or embed a buy button in your website or blog.
Embedding a button means you’ll copy and paste the auto-generated HTML code into the appropriate field for your specific site provider.
Then customers can click the button to securely checkout with Square directly from your website.
To get started:
Head to the homepage of your online Square Dashboard, and click Online Checkout. Click Create a link or Add a button to website. Next, choose either Collect a payment, Sell an item, Accept a Donation or Sell classes or tickets. Then, enter a title for your link.
If you’re collecting a payment, enter the amount to charge. If selling an item, items from your library will pre-populate the price; and when accepting a donation, customers can enter the donation amount at the time of checkout.
If you choose either Collect payment or Accept Donation, you can also enable subscriptions to accept recurring payments from your customers.
Just toggle on accept recurring donations and select the frequency for Donations; when collecting a payment, simply select a frequency other than one-time.
You can also configure custom settings for each link type, like enable tipping, add custom form fields, set a donation goal, or even set your event capacity.
When you’re all set, click create link or create button.
When you head to settings from your Online Checkout dashboard, you can change the business name associated with your payment links and buy buttons. You can also customize branding, like font and color, of your buy buttons. If you want to change the button text, head to an individual checkout link page, click customize your button, to update the name, and save. It’s also easy to configure Order Fulfillment settings like pickup and delivery.
You can also quickly and easily collect payments from your Square Point of Sale app. Just head to the Add-ons section in the app and open Online Checkout to get started setting up your link. Or during the Point of Sale checkout flow, you can select Send Payment Link to share a link with customers directly.
Once you’ve customized your checkout link, you can email or text it to your customers directly, copy the link to include in an email or host it on your blog, create a QR code to download and display anywhere, share it on social media, or even include it in a Square Marketing campaign.
