It's a leftover from when we were developing the preset. It was intended to let folks who escaped the castle in the entrance / reverse entrance back into the castle. Eventually we removed the ability to switch in that room but the hole in the wall remains.

I've been meaning to ask, at 6:25, you go down to check what's at the elevator, then go back up and activate the switch for the door, even if you don't like what's in there. Is it force of habit to check first or is there a reason to look before activating the switch? Just seems like you pointlessly lose time here if you're going that way anyway. I have seen you check, then go past the elevator in other speed runs where activating the switch isn't necessary, which totally makes sense.
In the randomizer, you never know when you might need to come back to that elevator whereas in normal speedruns you know your route and may not need it.

The Richter Randomizer lets you choose between a few alternate palettes for Richter. There are Red, Green, and Black palettes.
