In a black culture its not a bad thing when your in-laws are saying you have gained weight, to them it means their son(umkhwenyane) is taking good care of you😊

In African culture when umakoti gains weight your in laws are happy coz to them it's a sign that their son is treating you well and you are happy in your marriage which is a plus for the family.

Im glad you very accommodative to your in-laws view and black culture but don't forget yourself in the process. If you find offence in some of the things said to you, please tell your husband to talk to his family about it, politely so that they can also be accomodative to you and your feelings.

    Hi.
    New subscriber.
To cook rice correctly, its 1:2. Use this ratio, you will never get it wrong. 1 cup of rice, use 2 cups of water. 2 cups of rice, use 4 cups of water etc.

You’re very self aware - I like how you framed it as “your cultural background is what influenced your relationship with weight gain “. Thanks for sharing!

Ahhh when Mrs D said she loves watching uyajola 9/9🤣😭😭. You will get there with your Xhosa “practice makes perfect 🤩.” Thank you for this video Mrs D 🤪🤩🤭.

I'd like you to make a video on how both families accepted each other. It's not easy especially in African culture. I love African culture, it's so interesting and there's many layers to it.

I disagree with you. African families are the most welcoming. Sometimes there can be a language barrier challenge so that limits communication but the love is abundant

Super cool, especially for a Afrikaaner chick, to embrace a different culture so openly. You are certainly brave and strong headed.
Just some tips for your Xhosa. Your clicks are on point. But I would definitely recommend, you listen to Xhosa music, and sing along, even if you don't understand. Also listen to podcasts(I recommend Ithini na lento) and/or watch Showmax, and repeat along, without you trying to look u every single word, this is very important, otherwise it will slow you down. Then all you do is write down words, that come up often which you do not understand and you look them up. If you follow this process, your hearing, pronunciation and vocabulary, will be on point.
Even better, is for you to steal phrases from the content you consume, and repeat them to your husband. This is the fastest way to learn any language, and hopefully he will correct you, eventually you will become conversational.

And here I am indulging on some Kentucky fried chicken while I watch this video 😂🤭🤭
Anyway, maybe try basmati rice - it’s simpler to cook in my opinion.

Pour your rice on your pot then add boiling hot water until rice is covered let it soak soon as you see it has absorbed the water rinse it out then add boiling water again make sure the rice is covered by water then let it cook in low heat just observe it see when the water has dried up hope I make sense

I think in African culture it's ok to say someone gained weight but not other cultures. I take offense as a colored when my family says I'm fat. So what? Am I fat eating your food or are you paying for it? No you're not so mind your business. That's my attitude lol. People who are skinny and eat healthy also dir of heart failure etc.
