Where was this woman when I was a Child? I was a child of physical neglect with multiple visits from social services. Nobody expected anything of me. I needed a teacher like this. It's very strict but it's the most honest way of saying "I believe in your abilities".
I was a professional teacher for many years, and I can assure you, if you visit school classrooms, you will sooner or later see many fantastic teachers in action. But you will only find these very talented people in mainstream classrooms. You will not find them in any 'out of classroom' roles. This is because poor teachers are often desperate to get out of the classroom, but wish to remain on the education gravy-trail. 'Route One' out of the classroom is via 'promotion'. In every local education authority, you will therefore see many failed teachers employed as Headteachers, LEA inspectors and LEA advisory teachers. Of course, the OFSTED service itself is the preferred career choice for many of these failed teachers.
I have seen this in action so many times over my 25 years in teaching. One was made to feel guilty if one simply wanted to stay in the classroom. So many hopeless teachers were promoted to non- teaching roles.
As a parent sorry but my child and me had a way better experience with him in specialist school. Not every child is for mainstream and I know many people, with lots of money, who didnt even do their exams. Im now home schooling another child as mainstream secondary school has massively affected her mental well being. Btw she was top of the class from nursery to year 6. Every child is different but you teachers want them like soldiers. But that's allowed. Parents have no power now. We cant do right for doing wrong and the system really doesnt help.
@@phillipgriffiths9624 I'm retired now, so I'm a bit out of touch, but around the turn of the Millennium it was certainly the case that candidates for any Senior Management role in education had to learn to parrot the 'correct' set of answers to questions on a predetermined range of education topics. The interview feedback process informed them which of their answers were 'right', and which answers were 'wrong'. On average, it took aspiring Headteachers three or four interviews at different schools before they were able to regurgitate the complete set of correct answers, and get the job. I suppose this is the same in many professions now.
You have explained exactly how I found my years in teaching to be, and my husband Tommy, now retired, found the very same principle at play during his years in HMP Prison Service.

This headteacher is a national treasure - in fact I would go as far to say, she’s one of our very few national treasures - I bet Labour hate her?!? Wouldn’t it be great if our new government invited her to lead education in the UK. Her schools results tell their own story.
If the lesson is about consent and the teacher educates in subjects not deemed appropriate to the lesson, the teacher should be charged with grooming. Let's not sugar coat it. It is 100% grooming young children who doesn't know if what they learning is right or wrong.
You are correct. I think the term 'grooming' should be displayed big on banners at protests. Everyone can stand together on this issue. Help heal our differences.
Where are the teacher whistle blowers who could and should release the documents? . I’m disgusted with teachers after what they allowed to be done to children under their watch during Covid. Like doctors - they were brainwashed into totalitarian thinking and harmed those who they could have protected. But had a holiday instead.
SE commercial groups should not be allowed in schools or their material without being thoroughly vetted and parents given full access to the lessons and materials. The parents over ride anyone else on the safe guarding of their children.
Unscrupulous self policing groups with financial incentives to keep a lid on their methods. All you need though are warm and cuddly PR slogans and they appear benign, caring, even enlightened. Dangerous.
Nothing new here! It’s been going on for years. Destroying grammar schools and teachers refusing to coach for the 11 + exams. A blatant attack on working class kids.
How is it possible that parents can't have access to the class plans and scrutinise the materials they are going to use with kids? It's unbelievable that this mother had to go to court and LOST the case!!!
I pulled my two from school early and they never went to high school I’m so glad we didn’t send them ,you don’t have to ,if you can home school please do it for your kids
Was born and raised in the UK but now a US citizen and live in Texas. At our sons' school there used to be a cell phone problem until the school instituted the following policy. Now, if a student gets caught using their cell phone in class it's confiscated and the student's parents have to come to the school to pick it up. If the student gets caught using it a second time within six weeks, same as before, it's confiscated/parents have to pick it up and the student gets a discipline referral to the principal which can mean a paddling since schools around here have corporal punishment as a disciplinary option. The students also say the Pledge of Allegiance every day and the Stars and Stripes flies outside every school and is in every classroom. Totally different environment here from UK schools.
You think the pledge of allegiance is a good thing? I think it's state manipulating children's minds to blindly support a national identity meanwhile the USA let's it's people down in comparison to other first world democracies.
I agree. The wefare, safety, and education actually became an election issue in 1996, which saw John Major lose Tony Blair. Itwas so bad I ended up home schooling my eldest sons.
Took my 6 year old out of school because of bullying, a migrant child kept kicking spitting and pulling her hair, apparently he didn't like her blonde hair and blue eyes, teachers said he was learning how to behave and they would move her to another class away from her friends, told them to go F themselves, months later the boy was removed from school for attacking a teacher and they then said my daughter can return now, told them to F off. She is home schooled now and loving life.
This is disgusting I’ll do my best to homeschool and if I’m unable (my twins are non verbal at 3) then I’ll be sending them to such lessons fully equipped to ask questions and shame the weirdo teaching this stuff to CHILDREN. If they remain non verbal they absolutely will not be in those lessons!
I’m a teacher and I totally agree with this Headteacher on almost everything she says. And I am NOT a fan of this Labour government at all. If they bring back coursework, the achievement gap between rich and poor pupils will increase even further.
I wish the people at GB news could be taught how to end an intervew in a civil way! It's so embarrassing the way they cut their guests off mid sentence😠
9:37 The schools are violating parental rights, in secrecy, their response is cry-bullying: we're being harassed and threated, claim they're scared, blame the parents whose rights are violated, and make claims that their secrets and lies are "potentially life saving". But, but... we're saving lives, we're literal heros, how dare you object to strangers instilling their own moral sensibilities into your children! WE (educators) have decided what's best for everyone. It's "evidence based" too - but you can't see it! 🙄😓 The evidence was written by heavily biased "experts" who manipulated the data to support their grungy lifestyle.
Haha! I wrote that they would call it "evidence based" before the reporter stated the schools claim. 👍🏻 The mother is correct. There is no way commercial secrecy or copyright issues would relate to this. If they're that worried about their material being copied, they're in the wrong line of business and should not publish textbooks!
Only thing I had a problem with here is what she said about coursework. On one hand she said that her school doesn't accept any excuses around homework etc. and ridicules people who use class or race as an excuse but when it comes to coursework she said working class are at a disadvantage...why does she get to make those exceptions and use that excuse when it suits her agenda? Some people don't do very well in exams for many reasons. In the world of work we don't do exams but very often have projects that would be compatible with coursework. At Uni we do essays which is essentially coursework. I don't see this being an issue and having a good balance between coursework and exams seems perfectly sensible to me.
This is exactly the type of head every school needs. Our children are confused, school should be an oasis from the madness of our world. The expectation to personally grow and nurture self reliance is much needed. We need the right people for the job not the ones given free passes because of having one "real or imagined" disadvantage over another.

STILL reading The Guardian then?
Sounds like a perfect school.
Sounds like the school I remember from 50 years ago. Happy days!
U did 6 hours of homework a day 50 years ago?
@@thsxi I was fairly quick at my homework, so it took only a couple of hours. But you had to behave in school corridors, no running etc. Teachers were very strict, I had the cane once or twice, which taught me valuable lessons which stayed with me throughout my whole life.
"We've never refused to give parents a copy of our content." - Bold faced lie. The ICO and courts are involved, this is incredibly easy to prove.
Liars are teaching our children on behalf of the state and excluding parents. Including obfuscating content in the up front disclosure where the right to withdraw your child is in effect.
Absolutely disgusting
Both these women are heroes ✊
So her school is basically a private school without the fees.
My private secondary school that I attended 30 years ago was as strict as Michela. It produces results and highly educated young people.
@@francesboardman8584 I’m not saying it’s a bad thing at all. My son goes to private school, so I recognise the same methods
My Niece’s children attended an exclusive private school, she withdrew them when they came home and said they weren’t allowed to refer to them as ‘mummy’ and ‘daddy’ because it might offend! 😳 They are now home educated 👍
A woman with common sense ie wisdom - great to see
A national treasure... Godspeed.
They already teaching lgbtq to kids in primary. Go figure
Labour is vile.
Last 14 years was Conservative
@@greni7472 And what a relatively good 14 years it was.
@@TaxingIsThieving Indeed it was a very good 14 years for stabbers, fraudsters, scammers and the illegal immigration businesses being handed £billions of British taxpayers money.
@@TaxingIsThieving But all the issues with deteriorating standards in education and overfilled nonsense in the curriculum have amplified over the last 14 years. Tories and Labour are two cheeks of the same arse.
@@dehn6581 Still clinging onto that delusion 😳😳😳
It's a "commercial secret" but they are sharing it with entire classrooms daily🤨... bullsh...😒
This is how all headteachers used to be, I love listening to this woman, just pure sense, common sense, non political, looking out for the children she's responsible for and teaching them what they need to know not the latest fad.
This is who should be minister for education, NOT so.e career MP !
Michaela should join Reform as head of diverse, oh that be good she had all colour and religion and best school in London.
Michaela, be great for going forward to great Britannia.
This headteacher is a national treasure - in fact I would go as far to say, she’s one of our very few national treasures - I bet Labour hate her?!? Wouldn’t it be great if our new government invited her to lead education in the UK. Her schools results tell their own story.
😢 its sad. High respect for this lady. She is a true teacher at heart!
Every School should have a head teacher like her
If the lesson is about consent and the teacher educates in subjects not deemed appropriate to the lesson, the teacher should be charged with grooming. Let's not sugar coat it. It is 100% grooming young children who doesn't know if what they learning is right or wrong.
You are correct.
I think the term 'grooming'
should be displayed big on banners at protests.
Everyone can stand together
on this issue.
Help heal our differences.
She should run this shambolic, fractured country!!
I agree with everything except the “lots” of homework. That’s messed up. Was when I was in school, still wrong for my son.
She is proper.
Where are the teacher whistle blowers who could and should release the documents? . I’m disgusted with teachers after what they allowed to be done to children under their watch during Covid. Like doctors - they were brainwashed into totalitarian thinking and harmed those who they could have protected. But had a holiday instead.
What did teachers allow to be done?
SE commercial groups should not be allowed in schools or their material without being thoroughly vetted and parents given full access to the lessons and materials. The parents over ride anyone else on the safe guarding of their children.
Unscrupulous self policing groups with financial incentives to keep a lid on their methods. All you need though are warm and cuddly PR slogans and they appear benign, caring, even enlightened. Dangerous.
It’s quite interesting that this ideology has been rolled out simultaneously across the western world.
Labour, made to represent the working class eh. That didn't last very long
Nothing new here! It’s been going on for years. Destroying grammar schools and teachers refusing to coach for the 11 + exams. A blatant attack on working class kids.
Love and respect this lady 100 percent. Wish all teachers and parents shared similar values
My child will not be going into the British school system, without me closely examining all of their curriculum for every class.
This was just the normal school when I was growing up
They are sickening.
MPs send their children to fee paying schools and then punish you financially for wanting to do the same.
The headmistress needs to be in charge of our schools and our children's education
Keep pushing through the darkness
Not in all parts of
Texas it isn't !
You think the pledge of allegiance is a good thing? I think it's state manipulating children's minds to blindly support a national identity meanwhile the USA let's it's people down in comparison to other first world democracies.
Wow, this is how I’d like all headteachers.
"THE PARTY TOLD YOU TO REJECT THE EVIDENCE OF YOUR EYES AND EARS. IT WAS THEIR FINAL AND MOST ESSENTIAL COMMAND"
George Orwell - 1984
I agree. The wefare, safety, and education actually became an election issue in 1996, which saw John Major lose Tony Blair. Itwas so bad I ended up home schooling my eldest sons.
This was reply to bbuz1687
Took my 6 year old out of school because of bullying, a migrant child kept kicking spitting and pulling her hair, apparently he didn't like her blonde hair and blue eyes, teachers said he was learning how to behave and they would move her to another class away from her friends, told them to go F themselves, months later the boy was removed from school for attacking a teacher and they then said my daughter can return now, told them to F off. She is home schooled now and loving life.
Thank you - GB
Children should never be given sex education at school. Leave this to parents!
I was given sex ed at school and it was basically pointless because it was abstinence based and didn't cover any material for gay men
9:37 The schools are violating parental rights, in secrecy, their response is cry-bullying: we're being harassed and threated, claim they're scared, blame the parents whose rights are violated, and make claims that their secrets and lies are "potentially life saving". But, but... we're saving lives, we're literal heros, how dare you object to strangers instilling their own moral sensibilities into your children!
Should of let the teacher carry on about the smartphones
Should 'have'. No such thing as 'should of'. You are thinking of 'should've'.
@TS50ER Rightly or wrongly, should of is the way that many people converse in conversation if you listen carefully.
It's the contracted form of 'have'. It may well sound like 'of' in colloquial form, but it sure as Shinola isn't written 'should of'.
@TS50ER You have too much time on your hands to be spending your time spell check and grammar checking the comments rather than commenting on the clip.
@@RTG1031Your sentence is illogical.
You wrote: 'You have too much time on your hands to be spending your time spell check and grammar checking the comments.'
Suggest:
'You seem to have too much time on your hands to be spell-checking and grammar-checking the comments.'
You could have also used the negative:
' You don't have enough time on your hands to be spending your time spell-checking and grammar-checking the comments.'
Well done that parent demanding transparency from her daughter's school. Parents should have the right to know what their children are being taught in school especially these days where indoctrination of kids is considered more important than actually teaching kids real facts
Public institutions including schools have been infiltrated by perverts. Look at the BBC - full of perverts. Schools are the means perverts are using to groom little children. Keep fighting against this.
