I would like to see you play with the angle from the scythe above the mantle. Move the horseman underthe higher side of the scythe (maybe raise it with a box under the creepy cloth to make it look like he's on a hill?) And put the book on the end by the handle end. Move the gate over a little and spread the tombstones between the horseman and the gate so it looks like he's riding down the hill and through the graveyard. I love the idea of the crows on the scythe too.
I thought the horseman should go under the higher part of the scythe, too. I really love the idea of seeing if she could play around with the idea of perspective and using the props in a way to create an optical illusion of the horseman being in the foreground and the gate prop being in the background and he is riding away from (or towards, depending on which way she places him) the graveyard.
Seriously. The sponsorship slot in this video was on of the best Ive seen! Ive seen ads and sponsorship reads for those ads and none were really all that fun which something like this needs. Midge brought the fun big time!
I have to admit, I'm pretty excited about the annual birthday cake video. I love that you've created this fun and cute tradition for yourself and with us fellow glamor ghouls. The scythe really is a cool and spooky statement piece.
I'm an over the top, maximalist decorator and it's so nice to see someone decorate and not use the words "minimal" or "small touches" lol We lost our house to a downed tree in January so this is the first year of my life I'm not decorating. I'm living vicariously through you! 🎃🖤
I feel I am also a maximalist!! I used to feel very guilty about this and I still struggle because it’s been so ingrained in me that I just must be lazy, a hoarder, and dirty. Which I am not but it’s hard to get that out of your psyche. Anyway I’m sorry about your house and I also love that she didn’t paint everything white or beige to be “aesthetic”
Just sand your smooth pumpkins. It'll give the paint something to adhere to. Just sand in the direction you want the lines to go in. Fold your sand paper in half to make the grooves a little more defined as well.
I was hoping you were going to say crows were going on the scythe! Yay! This looks really fabulous. I love the book and the idea of dry brushing the pumpkins. I have a ton of carved pumpkins, but I kept them sweet and bright for when my kids were younger, it's time to switch it up.
Happy Birthday! 🎂🎈🎉 👻 Wow! The mantle looks sooo good! The crows will be great, and I hope you pull off the moon project, but I have all the faith in your creative abilities! Your sponsor segments are the only ones I watch!
I love it! I also think adding some laid flat books/even just flattish boxes wrapped in black paper to bolster a few of the decorations like you did with the trees so they don’t all just visually start at the same place (i.e. sitting on the mantle,) it might be nice, too. Could help you play with the vertical space even more🧡
Loved it😊 And i love the headless horseman vibe💜 And Tim burton did a very good job on his story💜😊🎃But what i think you need is purple lights💜😊 Not orange lights but purple that makes everything more spooky or what i have purple and orange lights together💜 Happy spookyseason 💜🍂
holy moly you knocked it out of the park!!🧡 or more like.. knocked the headless horseman out of the woods and into a beautiful display on your mantle!! 🎃🖤
I love that you did not paint everything white and beige to make them “aesthetic” or just everything completely matte black with no detail. Love the decorations!! Also that small pumpkin you did that you did not like- to me looks great because it looks rotten. I think you could still use it 😊
Love love love! I just got done frosting my not so little brothers birthday cake today and wish you a happy happy birthday as well!!! Idea- I have some 99 cent store ravens…and you can hot glue black feathers on them to look higher end and realistic instead of hunting down expensive ones. Love this mantle! It’s spooky and time period themed and I absolutely love it! It all pulls together so well. Great job! ♥️♥️♥️ ✨🎃✨👻✨🎃✨👻✨🎃✨👻✨🎃
I’ve been using Modge Podge on the smooth finish and it helps keep the paint on it when you dry brush. I’ve done it with glass too. The modge podge dries clear and textured .
Once again, knocked it out of the park. Your vision and the ability to execute it is spectacular. I love that old book piece. The pair eyewear ad was adorable as well! Best ad I’ve seen.
I saved this for my afternoon slump, to enjoy with Pumpkin Chai, and it was totally worth it. I love theming and the way it turned out so far. Totally gonna have to do a sleepy hollow theme on my bookshelves since I don't have a fireplace
As per always, excellent job! And, hey- if it makes you feel any better, the little fanged jack-o-lantern looks like the pumpkins I get from my favourite pumpkin patch! Pumpkins get muddy sometimes. :) Also, I swear, these Bemidged ad spots are the only ad spots I don't zone out while watching!
Love this mantle so much!!!! Yes I can definitely see the difference in the techniques that you have incorporated this year vs years past! Excited to see your LED moon it will definitely be perfection! I’m so excited to decorate!🧡🖤🧡🖤
My eyes wanted the Horseman to be off-center under the highest part of the scythe to fill in that wall space. I love the way the pumpkins that you dry brushed look awesome, and the crow idea would look really great as well. Excited to see how it evolves as you go.
Im not usually one for asymmetry and I generally struggle to picture things in my head but I read your comment and my whole brain lit up like "Yes!" And imagined it. Would maybe be neet if there was a prop undeneath to boost it up to the perfect height and help it stand out more? Edit to add that maybe the prop could be worked in as the base for a the moon Midge mentioned? Supporting it, giving the houseman a step up, and providing a conviently hiding place for wires and any needed battery back. If shapes a bit it could look like the moon was almost clear of the horizon.
Oh Midge, the mantel looks awesome!!! You've outdone yourself!!! 😱👏😍 Yes, totally agree about more realistic-looking crows and that led moon for behind the Headless Horseman sounds epic! Hopefully, it works out! 🌙✨🤞☺ Also, that has got to be the best RUclips ad break I've ever seen, what a great idea and so well done! 🤓👏☺💕
Happy 30th Birthday!! I love your spooky kerchief! I saw your stories this morning and I’m sorry that people are leaving mean comments on your stuff. I think you’re amazing and I look forward to your content! Love from a fellow Midwestern Ghoul!!
Agreed! But I also liked the gold skull. The pumpkin feels very spooky halloween to me and the skull more campy fun. I think it would be great in an entree way, on a drinks cart, buffet in the dinning room, or kitchen as a little faux butler/assistant with a little card or plaque either giving greating or instruction such as "please help yourself" next to a little bowl of candies or mints. Listing the foods laid out incase the host isnt around. That sort of thing.
I love how this turned out! it looks so good, my only suggestion is lighting but it sounds like you have plans for that, Its going to look so beautiful especially if you light up the fireplace with it!!!!! your videos always make me feel spooky and halloween ready!
Oh i just love the mantel. You sure can decorate. So awesome watching you decorate. Can't wait to see the rest of your home. Happy Birthday to you Midge. Have an amazing day. Enjoy. Thank you for taking us along while you decorate. Love your videos. The glasses ad was so cute. Take care.
I've always been curious why you and Jade The Libra have never collabed before? at least never since I've been watching yall, which has been a long time. is there an NDA? is it a KCMO/KCK dichotomy? as a KC ghoul myself I'd love to see it!
Awh yeah! Can't wait. I just bought the spellbook of Katrina Van tassel because of your sleepy hallow theme. Happy birthday early🤗 my husband's birthday is next week to.
Or even just wash to varigate the pots a little from the rest? I was thinking a few dirty orange leave holdingnonto the branches, just a couple each, would help tie in the orange and distribute color through the display both in terms of across it and to the higher levels. It would be easily done with a a couple small scraps of paper and glue.
Loved watching this! Looking forward to the crows coming in to roost. Don't know if you ever use Rub n Buff but it's really great for projects and can change the look quickly. Magical birthmonth to you!🥳✨🎂
I just found your channel and I'm really, really impressed! That mantle is fantastic. I'm so glad I found you in time for Halloween! Happy Birthday too!
Its so cute! It may look cute to get a round or oval shaped spooky picture or mirror to go in the space on the wall just below the highest point of the scythe. You could use an ornate antiqued frame in black or old gold. As you can tell, I'm a maximalist too.
Love it.. plus love the little ghost in the right corner at the beginning of your video. He was like peeking as to say, hi folks.. so cute. Happy birthday 🎉and may your 30s be filled with health and happiness.
LOVED this video. Every time your new intro pops up I get excited, then the video started and I exclaimed out loud "SOO GOOD!" because I hadn't seen your mantle for spring/summer before haha 😆 even your ad was super cute. All the best vibes and I love your style in general 💕🎃 so inspired for my own home and wardrobe this season.
My favorite spooky ghoul!!🖤🦇 Mantle looks fantastic! Totally agree with the feathery crows, that style with work perfect. The "finished detail" is so beautiful and different from last year. Also love the little rotten pumpkin guy, he's adorable! Enjoyed decorating with you, gets me totally in the Halloween vibes!! Happy early Birthday Midge!!!👻💀🦇🍁🍂🎃🤎🖤✨✨
Midge I did not know that this year was the year of sleepy hollow how cool... maybe that's why Michael's has plenty of stuff this year...your mantle turned out amazing as always 🎃👻🦇 Omg I can't forget to with you a happy birthday 🎉🎂💐
Yay!! I’m so happy for you, what a great mantle!! Makes me miss the one I set up last year. I need to get started on all the spoopery! 🎃🎃 I think on those little pumpkins, if you sand them down or add some foam on top you can probably salvage the paint job, or even just paint them a flat black and force the orange inside to pop. That could be really eye-catching. I also really love how the scythe gives you a built in frame, what about some small bird appliqués or little ones in that open space up to the left of your centerpiece? So excited for the house tour later! Thanks for the lovely content. 🎃🎃☺️
Right now with how hot and humid it is cleaning definitely feels like the chore it is but having this playing as I worked then peeking in on your progress as I made my own helped me to push along and get done. Thanks as always for your wonderful content. For years, I put nothing up for Halloween as "Im the only one you will see it," but channels like this let me live vicariously until the itch was too much to resist. Last year I let myself decorate a bit, and this year I've already added a few spiders and other small touches to my decor while it was August. Looking forward to adding more as the countdown to Halloween continues! Edited to fix a couple typos but while Im here I wanted to say I love the idea of a small murder of crows with a couple or more sitting up on the sickle.
Love your decor. I love the headless horseman and the legend of sleepy hollow. Love the book. I am going to Sleepy Hollow over my birthday in October for the first time. Am so excited!
Your channel showed up in my suggestions. Yay! Love all your decor. Those pumpkins with the faces like stuff from the original Wizard of Oz books are awesome. #Early Happy Halloween!!! Add a black cat.
Happy Birthday 🎉🧡🎂🖤🎊 Midge!!! Your mantle looks extra fantabulous 💜🎃🧡 and I adore the jack o lantern makeovers!!! I love your channel and your Pair sponsor segment was delightful 😊! Watching this I thought I'd mention something you might wanna add to your craft arsenal to sssist you. Glue dots will enable you to place items pretty much wherever you want them and they are removeable and don't leave any residue. Love your content and wonderful personality!!!
I think a few small battery op tea lights (seen obvious or unseen) to up light the book and even in the lantern? I assume the pumpkins will be lit up too?
Hey Midge, I have a tip for you. Walmart and Temu sell a gel like double stick mounting tape. It works great and would help keep your mantle items from sliding around. Like with the bust, you could use some of that tape to keep the skull in place. Hope this helps! Love wha you are doing with your mantle. I’m doing spooky forest-part fall and part Halloween. Nothing in the world like watching your vision come to life!
If you have the time, it’s worth the drive from Sleepy Hollow up to Ulster! The Headless Horseman Hayrides & Haunted Houses is such a wonderful production!
Loving the mantle so far! I am a mixed media artist. You can do the same technique on those slick pumpkins, but you need to prep them first. You can use *clear* gesso to give them some grit, or give them a veeeery light sanding with fine sand paper to do the same thing.
You did wonderful on the mantle. I saw on RUclips taking the leaves you have and dry brush with black or brown to cover some of the brighter colors in the leave garland.🎃💀
For the Moon piece you want to make, maybe looking into how paper lanterns are made? Off the top of my head a slap dash method could be using that large round wire candle holder that I think JoAnns had a year ago, and mod podging parchment paper around the edge could be a mental design jumping off point.
My thought for a cheap light weight moon was to use a shallow bowl or a platter with a slight curve to get a bit of a domed shape, line with clinge wrap, papermache into that curve using tissue paper with a simple mix of white glue and water, let dry, remove, then coat with a clear sealer for added strength plus humidity resistance. Then if desired you could paint to look more like a moon, print out a moon photo and decoupage it on, or leave plain. Take the moon and either cut some of the bottom off to make a flat so that it can stand and place LEDs to stand behind it (fake candle could work if the paper isnt too think and it would give a red/orange moon effect to match above lighting and a fire if the fireplace was going) OR mount to a flat backing board with a string of lED lighting already mounted to it in a spiral to help make the light dispersal even. The slight dome to the moon will leave space so the lights arent pressing to the paper to create intense shine on specfic points or a fire hazard depending on how hot the lights get. Have the wires run out the back of the board and down to a small base to hide the switch/batteries in. There are also ways to do it using plastic but that would take a bit more work/sourcing where as everything needed for what I explained above could be gotten at any dollar tree or super store except for a print out of the moon.
Your sponsored section was so cute and creative. They should use that as their promo. ☺️🧡
This!!
Who else would hire Midge to decorate their house?! 🖐️
Haha youre so sweet!
100%
1000000 percent!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤
In a heartbeat 🧡🖤
Her or Tim Burton...just sayin'

I could watch Midge everyday. So talented and should be cast for commercials already, those sponsor videos are superb!

The mantle turned out beautiful! I love that you're crafting items to add your own touch as well.
Your mantle looks so wonderfully spooky! And I LOVE your outfit today - especially the spiderweb headscarf.
I’ve been using Modge Podge on the smooth finish and it helps keep the paint on it when you dry brush. I’ve done it with glass too. The modge podge dries clear and textured .

That book is *amazing*! Really helped set the spooky mood :)
Totally awesome decor moment. Love your enthusiasm and multiple attempts to get everything just right!❤
I saved this for my afternoon slump, to enjoy with Pumpkin Chai, and it was totally worth it. I love theming and the way it turned out so far. Totally gonna have to do a sleepy hollow theme on my bookshelves since I don't have a fireplace
Gorgeous so far! I like how you blend store bought items with artist’s pieces, and incorporate your own creativity, well done 🖤🎃💀
The mantle turned out so great! Stunning! Happy early birthday. I hope you have the best day and have a safe trip to sleepy hollow.
Ahhh its so fun watching you decorating!🕸️ Of course, I'm in love with the Sleepy Hollow theme! 🎃🧡

I love watching your decorate with me videos! You have a wonderful collection of spooky things! 🎃

I love the crow idea!!!! Let the spookification commence!!!!!!! 🎃🎃🎃❤️

I love the burned up pumpkin on the headless suit
Agreed! But I also liked the gold skull. The pumpkin feels very spooky halloween to me and the skull more campy fun. It looks great so far and your welcome Midge Munster.

Love how your mantle is turning out!! 🧡🧡🧡

Love the mantel, with the little pumpkins try sanding them first and then dry brushing, it should give you the texture for the paint to grab on too.

Love your mantle. Have you considered draping creepy cloth from the scythe?
Mmm I like this idea!! I’ll have to try that!
I was thinking the scythe needed more crows, and then you said you were going to add them.
I love how your mantle turned out, it’s really dynamic with all the different heights of everything and sleepy hollow is my fave. You’re so talented.

Like with the bust, you could use some of that tape to keep the skull in place. Hope this helps! Love wha you are doing with your mantle. I’m doing spooky forest-part fall and part Halloween. Nothing in the world like watching your vision come to life!
Love your intro and your creativity! Thanks for sharing your design style!
Thank you so much!
The mantle looked stunning before the spookifying too! But of course I am loving the spookification as well😈🎃
If you have the time, it’s worth the drive from Sleepy Hollow up
to Ulster! The Headless Horseman Hayrides & Haunted Houses is such a wonderful production!
the scythe is EVERYTHING midge!!!! i love it soooo much!!!
also HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!
The gold skull looked really good. Looked good because of the gold trim.such cool decor💀can’t wait to see how you finish decorating🧙
It looks awesome. I think the addition of the crows will finish it off perfectly
Loving the mantle so far!
I am a mixed media artist. You can do the same technique on those slick pumpkins, but you need to prep them first. You can use *clear* gesso to give them some grit, or give them a veeeery light sanding with fine sand paper to do the same thing.
Spray on matte finish will also work to help the paint stick if you cant find clear gesso. Every lowes/home depot/walmart will carry it.
Beautifully spooky 🎃💀
Love your bewitched like intro
Those dry brushed pumpkins are a fantastic idea, and your head scarf looks fabulous! Thanks for the ideas Midge 😊
