Got a like from me for the simple fact of you pointing out the simplicity and practicality of the Keystation 88. It’s true, those knobs and sliders really only get in the way.
The best review of this keyboard I've seen. I'm sold. I'm a singer and rock guitarist, and want to replace the little 32 version I have for my studio, to become more adept at playing keys and this helped seal my choice. Thank you.
probably the best review yet on this keyboard. Factual, unbiased, to the point, and review it for what it is, and its purpose, rather than "expectations" or personal preference. Im considering buying the 61 version, as i want a portable controller to use with PC and external modules that's cheap and has a decent enough keybed. i have quite a few synths/workstations from synth action to piano action. So i have different actions if i need them. This just fills a different purpose
I’m actually in the same situation with my 61 lol. Beethoven is telling me to get a full sized piano. Very undecided though as I’m thinking to get a full weighted dp instead but I love the size factor of the maudio mks. 🤔
As an absurdly inexperienced newbie. It's great to see that after all the 88 MK3, might not have been the worst choice. The dream of Beethoven, Mozart, Bach... is settled. Although the accomplishment it's still light years away. ;-)
Just got the 61 - perfect for this guy who's more of an organist than a pianist! Also, I don't know if this helps, but the mod wheel on the MK 3 (latest model) is different than the older models, and it seems to work very well. Thought you'd want to know.
I agree with most of your review, David, but the term "Plug and Play" is misleading. It may not require a Windows or OSX driver, but it still has to be configured in your DAW to be able to play sounds. I originally purchased an Alesis Q88 but was very disappointed the external MIDI jack did not work even being brand new ad you had to buy an AC adapter not included. I then bought a used M-Audio and it worked immediately when I got it home with or without the AC adapter to MIDI to my other keyboard! Nice! I love semi-weighted keys and have played them all my life and actually prefer them over weighted but I have both. The modulation and pitch bend wheels don't work in my Ableton Live with Sunday Keys at this point but I am hoping to get that fixed. Kog NanoKontrol2 seems to work in Ableton Live now, too but keep those setup videos for Windows and Ableton coming! I rely on your expertise!
Hi! What has been your experience with the Hammer so far? I'm thinking about getting one. Does it record audio via USB or does it need an interface to do so? Thanks!
I’m very new to using a keyboard (as in never played) in just wondering, you HAVE to plug this into a laptop or pc with those programs to play correct?

Hey great video, but my English isn’t perfect and i don’t understand everything, does the sound comes out of the keyboard or you need to have speakers ?
It's a MIDI keyboard. This means You need to have a computer/iPad that decode the MIDI data and You can listen to it with headphones and speakers after that.
I'm just trying to figure out how midi works, but shouldn't an 88 key controller have a midi in, so I can use sounds from a keyboard with less keys from the 88key?
Hi, I’m setting up my worship keyboard rig. I’m fairly new to all of this - on Sundays, would you recommend an 88 key digital piano + 61 key midi keyboard or the new 88 M-audio hammer midi keyboard? Pros & cons if possible :) Ty for the videos, really found them to be useful!

Yes, the octave +/- buttons can be assigned to change octave, transpose, program change, bank LSB/MSB, or MIDI channel. You do this by pressing the "advanced" button and then press the black note key labelled with the desired function. There are also dedicated note keys for most of these functions too if you want to transpose, change octave, change program etc without reassigning the octave +/- buttons.
This keyboard is class-compliant, so you don't need any drivers in order for it to work. Some keyboards require a driver when using as a midi controller, and those can lose compatibility with new OS updates. Always check that your gear is compatible before you update or purchase.
This keyboard feels and sounds horrible. If you play this keyboard with nearfield monitors on, the keyboard noise is way too loud. Also the keys are loose plastic which gives you horrible play touch. I'd say worst ever of what I've tried and totally not worth the asking price (200€). If you're on budget, do not get this one.

I just ordered the 61 to control my small Roland JD-Xi. Wanted something with more, better and bigger keys.
The Nektar LX88 is also very good with on board controllers for basically in the the same price range.

does keystation 88 have a cable to connect it to computer ?

I want to learn the piano can I buy this keyboard to learn? Or is it only suitable to produce music through the computer?
Since it's midi keyboard, it doesn't have any sounds inside, so yes you would need to use software to play it.
Is it possible to transpose keys
Is this just midi controller or we can also use it as a keyboard? Like can we use this as a standalone keyboard without connecting it to a laptop?
No, it's just a MIDI controller. Must be connected to PC.
