*A few notes about the four chords:
1) Although all these songs use the four chords at one point or another, they may not be the four chords throughout the whole song.
2) The actual songs are all normally in different keys - I transposed them all to G, D, Em, and C for the purpose of this video.
3) The songs in this video do not all use the four chords in the same order:
-“Hero” through “Blue Moon” are G, Em, C, D
-“Fight Song” through “Love Yourself” are G, D, Em, C
-“Hello” through “Face Down” are Em, C, G, D
-“Stitches” through “One Call Away” are Em, D, G, C
-“Renegades” through “I’m In Love With My Car” are Em, G, D, C
-“The Way I Am” through “Shut Up And Dance” are G, C, Em, D

Moment of appreciation: 4 chords may not sound like a lot, but the fact that the songs use the chords in a different order yet he doesn't mess any of the orders up. Not only that, he can segue into the next song so smoothly, and to do it for almost 10 minutes straight, that's amazing skill! You rock RipTard!

He may not be the best of singers LIKE MOST OF US and Im sure he knows that without some bozo pointing this out! He's simply demonstrating that any who learns 4 cords on their guitar can sing along to their playing no matter what. And a bit of humour lightens up the process. 👍😊
I started playing guitar yesterday. Today I've learned these 4chords and I can combine them but not perfectly. My goal is to learn these 4 chords really well :)
your goal should be to improve everyday. trust me those open chords will feel so easy after a while. try and practice bar chords i always encourage people to learn these as soon as possible because its very physical but will open up your fretboard

OMG, this is the 4 chords that I started playing when I was just a beginner! It really helped me a lot in starting playing the guitar. THESE 4 CHORDS WILL ALWAYS BE MY FAVORITE.

Most songs enjoy using a root, fourth, minor (sixth I think?) and the fifth chord of a key, like in the key of (G?) the I, IV, vi, V progression would be G D Em C, in the key of (C?) it would be C G Am F. These songs enjoy these chords even if they use a different variation of the same chord progression

Theres a specific video where riptard teaches strumming patterns.
And now I'm going and watching the actual music videos. I guess it makes sense why these are so common. They definitely sound good.
