When it ran with steam Engine it was fast passenger 39 and 40. At that time ( very start) it did not stop at Mahmood Kot.However it stopped at Sanaean for water. When ALU 12 and later GMU 15 and GMCU 15 started , Mahmood Kot stop was given and Sanawan stop was finished. At that time there used to be more trains. First one started from Multan at about 7:00 in morning, (Passenger ) usually with steam engine. It used to go to Attock. It also went to Mari Indus and then Back to Daud Khel and then stopping at every station ( including flag stations like Chura Sharif). Later on its ended at Mari Indus. Second train started from Multan at 11:00 ( passenger) with ALU 12. Train was called ڈبے ۔ It’s final destination was Kundian. Then at about 4:00 pm was third train. It was passenger train with destination Kundian. Later on it was changed to fast passenger and was called عطاءاللّٰہ because it was extended by Minister with this name. It stopped at Karor, Bhakkar, Darya Khan, Shah Alam, Kalur Kot, , Kundian, Mianwali, Daud Khel , Chubb, Jand, Pind Sultani Road ( Now called Domel), Basal, Fateh Jang , Golra an Rawalpindi. At that time it ran with steam Engine. Later on ALU 12 and then GMU and GMCU 15 started but more stops Then last train from Multan used to be Thal fast passenger. It started at 10:00 night It used to skip flag stations till Kalur Kot. Then first flag station it stopped was Tibba Mehrban Shah between Kalur Kot an Piplan. There used to be small station Bhumb after Piplan . After Alluwali, used to be small flag station Khanqah Sarajiah before Kundian. After Kundian, this train ran as day passenger train to Peshawar. Another passenger train used to run from Layyah ( spelled as Leiah at that time) to Mari Indus. It used to reach Layyah ( from Mari Indus) at about 10:30 at night and started beck at 4:00 in the morning. From Lahore a train Chiltan Express used to go to Quetta via Kot Addu. Another passenger used to run from Multan early morning to Jackob Abad via Kot Addu- DG Khan Another passenger from Multan to Dera Ghazi Khan via Kot Addu.

Very nostalgic. Good work. In my childhood during the late 70s, we used to live in Chashma Barrage Colony and Kundian Jn was a big part of our life as we used to travel to Lahore via Maari Indus, an all night journey. Some times we took the early morning rail car to Rawalpindi and then Subak Raftar or Kharaam from Pindi to Lahore. A couple of times we went to Sargodha by rail car and then on to Lahore.
