A big thank you for uploading this fantastic interview. What a wonderful collection of words came out of both the interviewer and the interviewee. Bravo!
Pianovirus - many, many thanks for posting this! It was a pleasure to listen to him having his way explained. Extraordinary man in every sense, a great artist ... and what a sense of humour!
Abrazo
I've listened to all five videos of this riveting interview. An eccentric and fascinating man although of course one cannot agree with all aspects of what he says as most of his views are extremely radical!
I wish he would come back to the USA. Millions voted against the people whose policies he didn't like--we didn't like those policies either! So now we're denied the pleasure of hearing this genius artist because of Republicans. Please reconsider, Mr Zimerman! We need you now more than ever.
@Gidenkidenk That's not what he said..he said the way the politics had been going disturbed him, and that a change in administration would make him revisit his decision. The latest rumours I've heard indicate that he's planning a west coast tour in winter of 2011.
@@Halley-z2z I'm not sure whether his schedule is fully booked or not but, with so many other pianists out there who can play on an equal level as him, concert promoters may decline to engage him because of the headache. While I love his playing, it's not THAT special in the same way as Larrocha or Argerich is.
It’s too bad he didn’t want to play in America, bc the people aren’t in charge of what the government does. Except the people who elected Trump. Every President and governing body for the past 20 years has appalled me in some way or another, and I’m not alone. So we get doubly punished, by never getting a chance to hear Zimmerman and by him holding us Americans responsible for government actions we can’t even influence.
"What did you do to change the world?" What a stupid and immature thing to ask. And for Zimerman to take that seriously is very pretentious. He is a powerless nobody!
He IS somebody to ANY cultured person. But then again, social media allows anybody to go on a rampage against people they could NEVER in a million years measure up to them!
Thumbs up if you listened to all the five videos continuously.
A very interesting interview
I love how Zimerman never gets trapped by any question. He answers honestly and directly but also carefully and considerate.
it makes me sad i will probably never hear him in person
Thanks for posting. A great pianist, a great musician, a great musical thinker.
Thanks for posting! Definitely one of the most captivating interviews with a classical musician available on youtube.
A big thank you for uploading this fantastic interview. What a wonderful collection of words came out of both the interviewer and the interviewee. Bravo!

How does being against an unjust war make you extremely radical?
Radical? I didn't hear one single thing that I found radical. Not sure what you mean?

Thank you so much for posting! Great artist, good interviewer too! Were Zimerman's pianos at or near the WTC?
No. The gorillas at JFK screwed up his pianos. No surprise there.

@Snufkin999 Good comment!
Bravo! He needed to say this to the Americans, unfortunately they didn't listen.
@traccan i know but it still pissed me off, end of conversation anti
I love his playing, but I find him waaaaaaay too fussy re: his reasons for not making any recordings.
He is an artist.
