Love this video. I didn't go to a CC, but I did finish my undergrad at a small regional campus of a larger state university, so it was similar just by a different name. It was because of that experience that I am now in grad school. I'm in a master's program and currently applying to PhD programs. I graduated from undergrad as the chancellor's scholar for my department (basically means I was voted number one graduating student by the department's professors) because of many of the things you describe about your CC experience. Not only did I have great grades but I took the initiative to be involved in my education and seek out resources that I needed and talk to every single professor I had. All of that definitely prepared me for grad school.
That's amazing! Thank you for sharing your perspective, it's wonderful to see how unique educational experiences can lead us to amazing places. I'll be crossing my fingers for your PhD applications!
I love and appreciate your videos so much! I’m currently in a Masters program for Public Health. would it be possible for you share the worksheet that you used in CC that helped you to develop your reading and comprehension skills?
I'm so glad you enjoy these kinds of videos! I would recommend going to Accepted Consulting's shop where you can buy the Structured Reading workbook that I put together! It will help you teach yourself how to read effectively! I also have a youtube video about how to read on my channel
Katie, I am exactly in the same boat as you! I love how you explain and going more in depth about English classes as well as other classes in the ever lasting humanities classes in general. I almost failed all of my classes this semester at a community college as a first year and I have to withdrew them all. Luckily, I'm planning to start my academic journey all over again next semester with success, one step at a time. I call this "The Stairs Method." Basically, in my own academic path, if I did fail, I am going down the stairs back to square 1 to do remedial classes and slowly, continuing going up the stairs to continue both doing remedial and college level classes, so on and so forth, all the way to graduation. I am so glad that everyone has a great support system for education. I am rooting for you as you succeed in graduate school. I'm also going to try to teach myself critical thinking and analyzing skills for English, with support and you inspired me to keep going with my education. That conclusion at the end of the video, it's fantastic!!! I've read an article all about community colleges. I don't remember, but I'll have to look into it even further, but this is probably the opposite argument of this.
I love that approach! Take things slow, steady, and one step at a time and you'll eventually get to where you're going! If you find that article please feel free to share it with me, I would love to read it!
@@TheVintageAcademic I don't have Instagram but I'll go ahead and put the title here on what I've read: "Why We Need to Keep the "Community" in Community Colleges" by Anna Clark.
One of my CC professors is already emphasizing that grad school is a choice we have, and I love that. 🥰
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 i love that SO much!!
