To be fair, before the mid-1900’s it was quite typical to develop sepsis from something as simple as a paper cut, especially since most didn’t find it necessary or didn’t have the means to wash their hands often. However, obviously with the medical knowledge and resources we have today, it is easily preventable and treatable.
A few years ago one of my bffs died from a cat scratch. Scratch got infected and due to a previous case( years before) of endocarditis and damage it caused, all her organs started shutting down and docs couldnt fix them fast enough and she died. After all the sh*t that chick had been through, addiction, homelessness, recovery, endocarditis, open hear surgery, finally getting clean and sober amd getting her sh*t together, just to be taken out by a cat scratch... ffs..
