YES! I have been looking for a tutorial on how to make my own driftwood for a year now and I finally got the answer from you. Can't thank you enough! Have a great day . Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida🌴😎💙😎🌴
Thank you! Your instructions saved me a lot of trouble & expense trying to make a curtain valance rod for our Mermaid Stained Glass window in our beach home. Long driftwood pieces are very hard to find along the Galveston TX beach because of the wave action. Most of the driftwood in is pieces 3-6 inches long & encrusted with sand, seaweed & "mystery" substances.
Thank you for this tutorial! I’m landlocked so finding driftwood is a no go but this process worked great. Instead of a pool I found a plastic planter on Amazon to use (I was only doing one stick) and it worked great with less space.
Thank you for sharing your expertise! I have a follow up question, if you use bleach to clean the driftwood how do you drain the water? I wouldn't want it to drain the water in the yard where it could enter water systems and cause environmental damage.
Thanks for the video! I recently watched another tutorial on preparing actual driftwood, and at the end she sprays it with rust-oleum clear matte spray. Have you heard of doing that? Have you ever done it? I started and it looks like it's changing the look of my wood
Thanks for the tutorial. My driftwood will be for my fish tanks but getting the bark off is the hardest part for me. Using fruit trees and the bark is more attached than say cottonwood which can be stripped by hand. Also you have a great narrative voice, very clear and easy to understand. :)
Love this, thank you. How on earth did your dog have the self discipline to keep away from the water and the sticks? It must have been torture for him!
Great job. I've been bleaching some lake driftwood with good and not so good results. My colorful, resinous pieces lost some of their beauty color. Some color came back after pressure washing with an electric washer. Actually, I think I'm okay with just the pressure washing. This makes things a lot easier.
Your work is truly amazing and you a great teacher. I am curious how you determine the prices of your pieces? I am just starting to sell my work and I just want to be sure Im not over or under pricing.
So the longer u leave the driftwood in the bleach water the whiter it will get ?!???....I left mine in for a few hours and the turnout is yellow ...I'm going to attempt a few days and hopefully they get white
Hi. It was nice seeing you in the video. Thanks so much for this great info. Who knew? Would you suggest using some bleach on natural driftwood to clean it? I never know how to clean it besides water. Thank you. 😃🙋
Actually I just found an article that says to scrape off bark with wire brush occasionally as they are soaking and get softer www.craftiments.com/2012/06/diy-driftwood-tutorial.html?m=1#:~:text=%20DIY%20Driftwood%20Tutorial%20%201%20First%20collect,garden%20hose%20that%20was%20sitting%20out...%20More%20
I have a wet log I got from the woods that looks awesome but its rotting is there something I can do to stop it from flaking to make it a piece od driftwood and use for wall art?
Is there any way to make the driftwood without using soap and bleach? I don't want to pour bleach water onto the grass in my yard because it may kill the grass - plus, I have a cat who may drink the water, and, I wouldn't want her to get bleach poisoning or any kind of poisoning from the soapy water! Hope there are alternatives. 😀
This is one of the most useful video ever! (Also, your dog cracked me up). Thank you for the writing instructions as well but at step 2 I understood to let them dry forty five days days (instead of four to five :D). Does it have to be bleach, though? Bleach is super ultra bad for the environment. Could vinegar look maybe? Or, using the opposite, baking soda? (I use baking soda when I do my laundry to keep the white white - well, to keep the colors whatever they are).
@@LotsofKnotsCanada Another reason why I can't use this technique I just remember last night (which is half why I hardly have any bleach at home) is that I have 2 cats at home. We all know how cats react to bleach ; for those who don't, it makes them go crazy. Like a high junkie, rolling around in it like they're having a seizure, if they could drink it they would. And that's the heart of the issue because you're leaving your bleach bath out for days, no way you can keep it under constant surveillance that long (even with a helping dog ;) ). I really hope you didn't poisoned your neighbours' cats...
que maravilha, tenho pensado nestes dias como fazer exactamente esta operação ligada aos troncos de madeira e agora seu vídeo e sinto que o universo me ouviu, obrigada para você também
Lol your dog was cracking me up. Love it
Glad to see a face behind lots of knots :) well done

Your dog...... Just throw me a stick MUM 🤣🤣🤣
I was so concerned that your dog would drink out of that water you prepared. Hope you two are happy than ever! Cheers from Greece.

You could also try one of those kids' pools, the blue round ones that you might find at Dollar stores closer to summer. :)

Wow!! I was brushing every driftwood in the laundery... your way is great!!! Thanks a lot!! 🌻❤

Perfect for my mirror project! Will send you pic when it’s done

coz in many countries its illegal

WOAH very nice result. Thank you for sharing, that's a good tip
I appreciate this tutorial so much! Your dog is so much more emotionally mature than mine 🤣

Thank you so much for this wonderful idea....
Going to try to let you know when I do it
This is a great idea, however, where do you dump the bleach water?
Fantastic video! Your instructions are so clear and most helpful, thank you!
Awesome! So glad the video is helpful :)
I love this video. Thank you so much! Lovely place and dog :)
oh my god...absolutely love this video was so cute to watch and easy to do..Thankyou for this :)
awesome, thanks!
Brilliant ❤
Thank you so much for sharing this video!!!
This was so helpful! I live in the city and by a park so I needed a method of doing this as I do not have access to driftwood atm. Thank you! xo
very useful, I like all of your tutorials!

No problem! Yes you could use either dish soap or bleach to clean but just keep in mind that the bleach will lighten up the driftwood a bit! :)
@@LotsofKnotsCanada Thanks again! Have a great week! 😊
How do you do it in winter ? Do you do it Still ?
Can i use it for my aquascape then??
Great video, the finished branches look so beautiful! If my branches do still have bark on them, should I remove it before starting?
I would like to know this too

I will have to try with vinegar or baking soda - those are both great ideas.
Thanks for the support!
@@LotsofKnotsCanada Feel free to do a follow up video if the vinegar or the baking soda (not both at the same time, obviously) works! ;)

What if you put sticks in the dishwasher? Has anyone tried that?
Can't we use the wood just as is?

Can you put that in aquariums?
Mike Xorcist I wouldn't if you added bleach to the water
I would spray it with a wood sealant before putting it back in water and ask a pet store if it will harm the fish
