- Well, I've finally reached the end of the PS1 skateboard game catalog. And I saved the worst for last. This is Rocket Power, the most broken game I've ever played in any genre. Get ready to watch me suffer.

Like the ancient Hawaiians used to say, this game fucking sucks.
It wasn't the 900, it was the SUPER MCVARIAL 900

Funny cause this was the first episode to pop in my head
Maaaaaaaan. Stucking in the air is not a glitch but a feature. I don't remember which button or button combination allows you to do that, and it limited with your special bar. How do you fill your special bar? Do tricks. My strategy was to land some simple tricks, try to not bail, fill in the special meter, go to ramp and catch air, go into that "stuck" mode and do the biggest points. And when special meter going to it's end, try to rotate the skater so he won't let. This thing is used in rollerblades and BMX challenges too as well.
Now when you know this, you are able to finish the game. I know it's kinda painfull sometimes, but it can be done in maybe a hour or so.
Please no radrat, the gang and their shenanigans were my childhood.

rocket power was one of my favorite shows as a young buck.
I actually OWN this game. I bought it when my local blockbuster was going out of business and I popped it in for about a week and never played it again. To this day those dark memories haunt me. However, you might find some enjoyment out of Rocket Power: Beach Bandits for the PS2, Xbox and GameCube.
Yojur Danfish definitely one of the best Nickelodeon games of the time. Perfect blend of platforming / skating.
Skateboarding would not be the same without Rocket Power
Eric Lowery that combined with the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series was the double whammy combo that made skateboarding as popular as it is then add movies like grind session in the Lords of Dogtown and it was skateboarding gold till Robo Moto screwed up everything with ride and Shred

The loading in this game was UNREAL. Right up there with Crash Twinsanity if I remember correctly. One of the ps2 crash games I know that.
Dude you totally blew it on the skateboarding. If I remember correctly the special meter is there to stop time so when you are in the air you use it to do big tricks. The games still horrible but you missed that

Try Rocket power beach bandits, it's WAY BETTER and it's for PS2

I played it on Gamecube. My nephew got it and he asked me to beat the game because he was too young and he just wanted to play the game without doing the story.
I absolutely loved that game.

There is a skateboarding game on the Gamecube called Go Go HyperGrind. It's a pretty crazy skateboarding game. You should check it out and review it.

I remember getting this when I was 3 cause I loved RP a ton! Never could get past the inline part! Always wanted to do the bmx and skateboard parts but yes the in-line was impossible! I tried off an on till I was 10 and could never do it. Glad it wasn’t just me.

you missed a key point. With the roller blades, you can do a cheap trick to instantly win any level and get a fuckton of high score. Basically, from standing, jump + spin + grab from the ground and you can do a little flip that gets you a ton of special, do that like 5 times then activate your special and just keep doing that jump spin flip for TONS of points. Its incredibly broken
I actually loved this game as a kid. It always frustrated me but I’ve beaten it several times

you were too old for this? you're only 2 yrs older than I am, and I watched this whenever it was on! plus, really feeling that AVGN vibe! you even said "get this turd out of the way", but at the end, I was expecting you to say, "I've been doing nothing but playing sh*xxy games for the past few months" instead of [terrible games]. you should've done a full production of you buying one, scratching it up, throwing it in the fire, and saving the world.
Jesus, compared to great classic cartoons, Rocket Power was up there for me. The whole premise and outcome of this episode is insane.

As someone who played this weird ass game, this review just spoke to me, even that closing line on just not playing it, even with a gun to your head over it. XD Can't lie, it does speak to me on that level cause I so badly never wanna touch this game again.

There was a game for consoles in the early to mid-2000s that I had on GameCube. I remember enjoying the game quite a bit, but i was also 7-10 years old.

Man.... i remember this game as a kid 😩😩 even for my time i hated this game so much i only played maybe a 2 hour before i got bored with it and went back to playing tony hawk pro skater 2. Butt the show was really good at the time i was maybe 5 or 6 years old.. still to this day ill watch it again im 23 now but the 90s kid never goes away. 😂
This was one of my 6 ps1 games as a kid. Needless to say, this game made my other game look like cake to beat

I prefer my nostalgia in the Rose-colored glasses variety lol, I hope we get some hidden gems soon that way you can shine a positive light. Even if they're bad, any attempt to pull positivity from the experience is refreshing. Although I understand this one was an especially bad one.
You should rank every skateboarding game out on play station 1 in a nice long video that's be cool

Play the Rocket Power Beach Bandit game next. Then compare both (Team Rocket Rescue and Beach Bandit).
The Team Rocket Rescue game looks like how Nickelodeon would make a game for their website (back in that era).

I remember loving Rocket Power when I was a kid! It introduced me to a lot of action sports and i really liked the characters as well. I never played this game and I'm glad I didn't lol. I figured Rocket Power would of made a great game having such a variety of sports, but looks like Id be wrong.

That wasn't you glitching or anything. That was what the special meter does. It freezes you in place.
I don't blame you for thinking it was a glitch cuz it looks terrible. There's no visual effects or anything, you just stop moving.

R.P. Team Rocket Rescue was one of my least favorite games to play on the PlayStation. The physics on this game were terrible, the grinding ultimately slows to a halt unless you pass through a lightning power up to give you speed to let you grind worth a darn. And when you're using Special Gauge to do special tricks you have to not go too nuts on the tricks beyond reasons, because if you run out of the Special Bar and you're doing tricks still, you'll bail. I did beat the game and unlock a character, but I stopped playing because it stopped being fun. I was glad to play Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3 when I got it. I can't be too hard on the developers since it was done with limited constraints and other time-consuming challenges. But I doubt some kids would get into this game, because it lacks what Tony Hawk and other skateboard games have, and that's better physics, more content, and replay value. Team Rocket Rescue and Beach Bandits just didn't have the stuff they needed to make it even worth mentioning.

it has interesting ideas, it only lacks to have developed them better, if it had been like that the game would be great.

Do not buy this game or download it on an emulator when I made it to stage 3 this game keeps on lying to me that I beat my high score it kept on saying good job you beat your high score and then it told me you failed to qualify when I really didn't and not to mention there is no music in any of the levels don't download it on emulator and don't buy it off Ebay it's a piece of crap!
