  • United States treasury Secretary Janet Yellen is in China on a 6 day visit to discuss key economic issues and her meetings started in Southern China’s city of Guangzhou which as we all know is one of China’s biggest economic power hub before heading to Beijing.
She accused China of overcapacity with clean energy including EVs and solar cells.
Let's analyse the reasons for her comments

. China goods are affordable to all because the China GDP per capita is 10 times less than USA & cost of living is lower, raw materials are lower, cheaper fuel, supply chain is local, etc. this is the reason why China is very competitive. If American don't want the cheap Chinese EV & other made in China goods, they can always choose others but Think about the hundreds of poorer countries, The USA are welcome to do the same help the poorer countries, such as reduce their carbon foot print, built infrastructures, ports, & power plants, etc. Don't try to stop or slowdown China.

    Hi Willene,
I wonder how can Yellen claim and decry the Chinese EV industry in overcapacity when this industry has just started and still on its infancy? It is just one of many clean energy industries to save the planet from overpollution!
As a general economic principle the indudtries should manufacture its products in the cheapest possible way to benefit the end consumer and not the govt who is not the end consumer,!

she is there after the visit of some US corporate leaders to address several issues, protecting US industry that cannot provide products that common people can efford in the US it means China is becoming too competative not just for the US to handel but also European countries, the US economy is not in a condition to sanction China too much it will hit them harder,Russian foreign minister is also in China to talk about Ukraine its pretty obvious China is helping Russia which the west is very sensitive too, unless the US provides a more equally benifiting solution the situation wont change

For a period of time, the US has been a straightforward place to demand from others. No one can take on a challenge.
"My way or the highway". China is the only country that has accepted the highway to discover it, which is a much quicker and superior choice. And numerous other countries follow suit. Uncle Sam has become irrational to find the truth. Now the US currently pleading with China to exit the highway. China relies... "No Way, Jose"

  • @gibsonsg6201

Instead of asking China to slow down, why not get the US workers to get up to speed? And over capacity is subjective and depending where you’re coming from. As a government, it’s objective must be for the good for their people and by extension the good of the global citizens as a side benefit. I suggest the U.S. should and must put their house in order first before sticking their nose in everyone else’s affairs. Can you imagine all the tax dollars that were, are and will be put into the military industrial complex to kill , maim and otherwise dominate others going instead of towards alleviating abject poverty, improve quality of education , improving infrastructures, protecting the environment and promoting peace amongst nations?
We don’t need more nuclear ordnance, ICBMs, super aircraft carriers, etc. Just ask yourself, if everyone in this world is well fed, educated, housed in safe environment from the elements, have no fear and uncertainty about their futures, would they be interested in becoming pirates, robbers, and scammers? The people should have a voice and the governments should listen and countries especially the “Superpowers” should be responsible entities to help, guide, lead with their more advanced knowledge to the betterment of all and elevate all people to equal footing and providing a platform for success instead of dominating and hindering their potentials and profiting from their disadvantages and miseries.
